We are invaded by ants. We thought they came in on dog food that we had left out..... That is still a possibility but how do we get rid of them. They seem to just wait in hiding until we go to bed and then they swarm. We are using Ant Rid at present. Does anyone have other ideas please.

You need to get em out of where they are hiding IMHO.
We had a nest in a wall once and you can buy the attractants/baits. One very useful technique is to buy 2 different brands and use alternate days.
We found that with one brand the wised up within a day or so as to what it was. They take the poison back to the nest in minute quantities.
