I posted this on the Jeep forum the other day and thought it might be of interest on this forum.
I am travelling in Canada and came across this Receiver Lock that claims to learn your key and work with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep ignition keys. As I had my Aussie Jeep key with me (WH Grand Cherokee) I bought it and, to my pleasant surprise, it worked perfectly as advertised. I also purchased a padlock with the same lock. Receiver key cost $29.99 and the padlock $19.99 at a retailer called 'Canadian Tire'. They make other models to suit different vehicle manufacturers.
The locks are weather proof and good quality. The manufacturer (Bolt) has a website with the details and it includes a short video on how the lock works. Website: http://www.boltlock.com
That's a good idea Tim, one less key on the key ring.
The prices you mention, are they Aussie?

Doug, the prices are in Canadian Dollars which I think is pretty well on a par with the Aussie Dollar. This type of item is usually cheaper in the US and I was tempted to wait until I get back there later this month but I have often missed out on a good buy when doing this in the past. My modus operandi these days is: if I see something good and the price is reasonable to go ahead and buy it and not get too fussed if someone else gets it a few dollars cheaper elsewhere. Works for me.
