After a very sleepless nite, all on board concered, hmmmm what would Sam have done.
After much brainstorming, I rang RV World who I bought Athena off, he said there's no such thing as it can't be fixed, he seems to think its the rubber seal around the injector fuel rail, costs prob $20, he contacted a Mercedes dealership in Albany Hwy Bentleigh WA, they said it can be fixed,. I'm just waiting for RACV to OK the tow to Perth, hopefully I'll be there Monday.
Ooooh thankyou again, your all my angels i feel your presence

Told ya Fran - and I agree - very rarely is "can't be fixed" - that's just their speak for "dunno what's wrong, and can't be bothered looking" - you'll be right, just take it easy for the weekend.

Hey for all the doom and gloom in the world, the majority are fine decent people who will help if you ask and they can. Somebodie's earlier post said this is a great forum and lots of kind helpful people on here. True so very true.
Like the rest of the Forumites I wish you well and hope you get fixed up and back in the 'Playground'

It can't be fixed: I don't know HOW to fix it and I am too stupid to ask some who may know. No such thing as can't be fixed. The closest is where the repair costs are higher than the value of the vehicle.

Fran, What seems like an insurmountable problem to you is a piece of cake for someone who knows what they are doing..
As someone has said as soon as you find the right mechanic with the correct scan tool he will have it going again in no time..
Hoping you get it sorted soon so you can continue your journey....

Good on ya, Fran. Nice to know you're not alone out there. Next time there's a drama, you'll realize it's not such a biggie after all... just another hiccup.

I had very similar problem if not identical with my Land Rover 2 TD5..started to miss badly then wouldn't start at all....it was fixed in one day and I never had another problem before or after with that car...fairly common problem with the 2004 Series 2 I was told and should have been an official recall for the number of cars eventually affected....
Fran you should be right as rain after its fixed..particularly if a 'Dealership' that knows what the problem is, is doing the fixing....and I suggest it may be a common problem they really do know about with your vehicle...all the best....Hoo Roo

That's great news Fran. So we will see you back in Perth next week.
Will give you a call later on.
Get together is going really well, Lots of chatting around the kettle then around the camp fire at night. You would have enjoyed it and learnt a lot.

Goodonya Fran, hang in there! In times to come you will look on this as a funny little incident.
I'm one who used to take mechanic's words for truth but I've learnt my lesson... lucky the problem wasn't serious, just a bit more cost than we expected.
