I have broken down, had to have Athena carted on the back of a truck.
They can't fix her, had the choice by RACV to have her carted to Perth but if they can't fix her i'm stuck,
so i decided to have Athena carted back to Melbourne, I'm so sad,
Have to find my own way back home. So angry and confused :(

What vehicle do you have. We have mechanical contacts in Perth and may be able to point you in the right direction. There is a company we have used for freighting a car from Queensland to Perth who were reasonable, may even be able to get a back load to reduce cost.

Have a good cry, wipe your tears and think about a solution which is somewhere. Remember there's light at the end of the tunnel. I had to sell my treasured Transit more then a year ago for financial reasons. but have bought another transit and transforming it hoping to get on the road in a couple of months. It sounds like a sensor or something like that has gone, high unlikely the whole computer would drop dead , if the vehicle was running fine prior to stopping , and was turning over when you tried to start it ? , it would have to be either something wrong with fuel delivery or ignition
Engines are pretty basic things as in they need fuel and a means to ignite it , modern engines have heaps of stuff going on to tell the engine management system how to run them , so if you can find a half decent mechanic you should be back on the road in no time !

Fran - you are closer to Perth than Melbourne - get it bought back here - there are people you know here who can help, once the initial shock is over and you have calmed down - get in touch with some of them. Grey Nomads are a helpful bunch. Sorry for your troubles, and this is not the end of the journey, just a hiccup along the way!!

Fran how sad for you but you are a strong women - you proved that by doing what you have done - I am sure there would be someone in Perth that could fix it for you. As Jules said 'not the end of the journey just a hiccup along the way' - it won't be long before you are out there again I am sure.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, you need to get it back to Perth there must be somebody to help here, will also be cheaper to get here, that is unless you have already shipped it to Melb, you will find that they know nothing about campers in remote areas and will always suggest shipping it out to somewhere, so get it back to Perth and we can all help.

Get it taken to Perth as suggested, get it placed in a CP, Karrinup Waters is a good one, then as mentioned you have several options, and some friends near to you.
What model and make is it ? as said most things are a simple sensor causing shut down or some bad fuel. Think positive.
Just had a thought as well, the towing chap at Noresman has a reputation from what I've read so don't just take his word for anything, he's in it to make big $$.
Even Kalgorlie would have good service facilities !

Hi Fran, just a thought: We were stuck in Alice springs a while back at a CP and the navara "stuffed up" - so we thought.
Called the road service and all it was - the water level in the radiator was low and there is a sensor in the radiator "somewhere".
It happened again when we got to Norseman (2 months later. Again it was remedied by topping up the radiator.
I also had a situation in NSW where I picked up some dirty diesel. The insurance came to the party and replacd the FULL fuel system
- just on $11,000.00.

As the other have said it could be some as simple as sensor that has failed..
Hope it not the diesel system as that could be very expensive.....
You should be able to get the system checked..
Get someone who knows what they are doing, to plug into the On-board computer and get it assessed.. The Diagnostics will tell you what the issue is...

Hi Fran, your problem seems to be that the onboard computer wont talk to their diagnostic machine, I recently had the same problem in Kalgoorlie, was stuck there for 6 days before they figured ( at my suggestion ),firstly that there was a power supply problem, your battery only has to be down slightly to affect the readout /connection to the diagnostic machine, so once they recharged the battery the readout went through, turned out to be a loose wire to a camshaft position sensor that had shaken itself loose with all the corregations we had been on. The battery seemed fine to me at the time as it started ok and I don't run any auxillary power from my car battery, anyway they traced the wire to under the dash and repaired it, $300 bucks labour for having to trace the wire and remove the dash and I bought a new battery and "happy days", no further problem. As an aside if you are using the repco guy in Norseman, he is an absolute ****head, had a few reports about how he operates and one personal experience that caught my son out, he has reported him to the auto association in WA.
Don't give up, there will be a solution, nothing is unfixable.
