This morning, I was packing up from what must be the CP, on the GC, when I heard this little voice go, "Excuse me dear, are you travelling on your own?" Answering with a yes, this beautiful elderly lady sitting outside her combi van, looking very elegant with her make up on and beautiful casual clothing, ( I looked and felt like a dag), started to have a chat. She was 86 and still travelling on her own. Up until this year she had a yearly trip overseas plus her time on the GC. She flies up from Melbourne for 3 months, does little trips around, but it is getting harder because the bus has no power steering and she is not sure if she will be able to do it in a couple of years. She was gorgeous. She then informed me that there was another single lady in the park, who at 90 did the same thing as she did. While they are on the coast they catch public transport everywhere, join in all the things that are going on, and just have a wonderful life.
What a wonderful inspiration she was. I was sorry to be leaving as I could have sat and chatted for ages with her. She was well travelled, and very interesting in her descriptions of her travels. It truly is a wonderful world.

That's fantastic Sharon. We had a similar meeting in Marlo a couple of years ago. We were in the laundry and this very nice lady came up and
struck up a conversation. She would have been way over 80 and was travelling with her elderly son. Reckons they had been on the road for quite a few years.
Anyway she looked tired so we told her to go have a nap and we'll finish her washing which we did. That was my first meeting with someone living on the road
permanently.
Like you it was really good to meet such a friendly stranger, I hope that's what I turn out like one day.

What an inspiration, I always thought at 77 I have many years left to travel and a lady like that confirms my opinion.
The lack of power steering does make the vehicle hard to handle in tight situations.
I definitely agree with the sentiment expressed in the thread title, my life has gotten better over the past 3 years and can only get better.

As everyone has said... an inspiration. Great to read your stories, Sharon, and I hope, like you, to meet up with such wonderful people when I finally get going. I'm getting the impression that living on the road is great therapy for longevity.
