AL-KO ESC

This is a great system and a life saver.

I have a question, If the break away battery is flat will the ESC still work?

If the answer to that is positive I have some fault finding to do... Should keep me busy for a while.

The way it was explained to me by the installer, the ESC draws power from the vehicle battery the same way as the electric brakes do ... it has nothing to do with the break away system. There should be a couple of LEDS on the drawbar that light up when the power connection is made between the van and the tug.

As D and D said there is no connection between the two.

Do you have the owners manual for the ESC system?

There's a circuit in the manual which is quite clear, if you don't have a circuit already give me a yell and I can probably send a copy or if you go to the AL-KO site there will probably be one available there.

Edit-my statement is not completely correct as they would be connected at the wheels so it really depends on what your problem is.

So what problem has you scratching your head?

The AL KO system is completely separate from other electrics on your van (or should be). AL KO have a great site with a useful newsletter you can have downloaded automatically and it doesn't push their gear either). GREAT for newbies and some of you Gurus might even learn something from them......and they also run competitions - all you need to do often is click on YES. The tech specs on the site is good too

Thanks guys, yes i have a booklet and have visited the website. At this time I have nothing on the ESC, no LEDs zippo..

I suspect a loose wire somewhere in the Jayco birdsnest. I will have to get out and sort it out.
