I recently rang CIL in regards to insurance on my wife and my new van. I asked for $70,000 cover but when I received the paper work it was only for $67,000 cover, the quote of $1,140.00
was however the same quoted to me for $70,000. My excess was $200.00 for Van, Contents and Annex. My wife and I used to pay around $900.00 for our old Motor Home and it was Insured for $90.000.00, admittedly that was around 5 years ago when we sold it but surely Insurance has not increased that much.
I would be grateful for any feedback regarding who you use and how you have found them price wise and the service you recieved on a claim. We don't mind paying the CIL quote but are the better Companies and Policies out there.
Best Regards to All.

Caravans are considered a higher risk than motor home it is the same if you have one on lease or hire purchase the interest is any were up to 3% higher for the perceived higher risk.

Don't know why they consider Vans a bigger risk but when it comes to Insurance Company's I believe you are correct. Still think I must be able to do better as I have not had any accidents or claims for 20 odd years and have not been booked ( Touch Wood ) for 30 odd years.

Hi Bruce .I am with CIL and had a claim last year ..... not a problem at all they were great .However a mate swears by YOUI and they are nearly half price so I will get a quote prior to my renewal. The days of allegiance is gone sadly. John

Gday...
Get quotes .... compare prices ..... BUT it is the POLICY that really matters. A cheap policy that does not cover you for extended travel around Australia for a year is not worth a cent.
Make sure that what they cover, and more importantly DO NOT COVER, suits YOUR circumstances and how you will USE the van, and where you are likely to travel etc.
Cheers - John

We have just renewed our CIL cover on 2013 Jayco Outback Sterling. I requested a cover of $70k we have added some options in the past year. Cost $1,320. Yes they are expensive but I note from other forum members who have had claims have had no issues.

The Van we have purchased is a Concept Belmont, we purchased it for many reasons, one of them being that we have around 15 km of dirt road and corrugations to get to our farm and the Belmont is semi off road. My wife and I intend to travel the oodnadatya track at one stage but apart from this it will be mostly bitumen. YOUI sounds like it is a good price but as John pointed out there may be a trade off for money saved. Personally I have been with Shannon's for year with our Cars but they do not do Vans which is a real shame as fare as I am concerned. Will be giving YOUI a ring and see what the come up with on the van and car, rang GIO but you need to have three things insured with them before they discount ( Sure it used to be two ? ) NRMA i won't even consider as I had a bad experience years ago with them.

I have mine with National Seniors (Allianz), very good. Had a $15000 claim a while back, no trouble. We have all our insurances with them as they were the cheapest with very good policies.
