Hi Sue, know what you mean. Caravan rego in WA is around $100 - $130 depending on weight. I believe Vic is around $40. More reasons why we should get rid of this 'State' concept and run as one state one country run by one government. Much simpler and by default should be less costly as there are no duplications.

The Registrar of Vehicles in Victoria advised me they accept that the Caravan or Trailer can only be on the road being towed by a vehicle that must also be registered so they are 'reasonable' with their trailer registration fees....good way to look at it and fair.... <very reasonable in Victoria I find>..the other States are simply in the usual cash grab...Hoo Roo

Gday...
I thought I had heard the NSW Govt were "reviewing" the cost of registration fees - particularly for caravans/trailers.
If I had a caravan and lived in a State with high registration cost, I'd be talking to one of my buddies in Victoria to use their address and register in that State...

Pensioners in NSW receive free rego on one vehicle each also free licence, the pollies just need to bring all the other states into line with NSW to even things up, I can't see it going down, so if enough people complain it will soon be put right.
Cheers

The Vehicle rego fee is free to pensioner; still have to pay for the green slip ( third party personal injury).
Caravan rego is free to same; no green slip required as its covered by the tugs 3rd party.
Licience is free to same.
But in saying that the rego's are very expensive to non pensioners; public in general.

The link in the OP post says in part: Mr Scott-Young said the cost of registration increased if the caravan weighed more than 2.5 tonnes so from that one could deduce that under 2.5 tonne there is no increase in rego costs, and most vans are under 2.5 tonne.
