For those people that have met me and know me I consider myself a a person who does not like to upset or offend ANYONE. If that happens I get get upset.
Apparently a photo I included in my UPDATE #9 in "General" of my big rig and a particular tree at Greens Lake offended a certain person who at least had the decency to start a different thread to complain which hopefully will not turn my update into an argument, I thank that person for that. The photo was meant as a bit of fun but obviously back fired.
I do these updates and include a few photo's to give people that are not lucky enough to be in the playground yet a bit of an idea what is out here. I try to add a bit of my sick humour through the update as well. I have thought of not doing them but convinced by many people to continue.
Life is way too short for bickering as my dear late wife found out. My aim on this forum is to add (I hope) enjoyment and at times help people if I can, NOT UPSET ANYONE.

Doug, put the picture back, I was compelled to comment on the other thread, as I feel the meaning of the the thong tree is, and I'm sure important to those who have left a little reminder of themselves behind after they leave.
I can't wait to get to the lake and I would feel privileged to hang my thong as well. Sorry I didn't realise you were in Penrith would love to have caught up. But looking forward to meeting you some day.
Cheers

Thanks everyone, I have actually had a few phone calls, emails and PM's from GN friends saying to put the photo back but I have removed it in respect for the complainer starting their own thread to complain and not turn my update into a fight with risk of Cindy closing or deleting the thread.
The tree in question does mean a lot to many who have visited and had great times in a great place. strange thing is there a other said trees around this great country as well. A staff member from the local water authorities has also seen the tree and was rather impressed. Oh well, not to worry, I'm chill'n Bro. I liked that Rocky, thanks.

The problem is the forum is a reflection of life, and like life there are many and varied views about many subjects and it is inevitable that someone will take umbridge at something someone has said. They may find it downright offensive, and completely against their moral code (as I suspect was the case here).
Personally I am what I would describe as a moderate, I do not hold strong views about things, thus I find it difficult to understand why people would react as they do, but I have learned years ago, that anyone that comments like that clear does feel strongly about the topic.
In the interests of living harmoniously with others, I believe it is up to use to accommodate people's views where we can.
I think Doug did the right thing removing the photo.
However this does not mean that I would not add a thong to the tree, to join the one I left there last time.

Let me know when you do Plendo, but make sure it matches please, I could do with another pair of thongs
Doug, I was actually interested in seeing the tree as I have never seen it so appreciated the photo.
What's that old saying, "you can please some of the people most of the time, but not all of the people all of the time".....well something like that.
I guess there will always be those who don't mind this type of thing and always those who don't, like Plendo I don't have strong feelings about it either way but in my mind it is not a criminal act and ads to the interest and humour of the area.
Cripes, a huge tree in Pemberton WA has huge spikes belted into its trunk all the way to the top for a ladder and a lookout nailed at the top, put there by the forestry department as a fire lookout but now a tourist attraction encouraging those fit enough to climb it. Can't say I have seen any objections to that being done by anyone on this very old tree which is still growing.

DOUG, Dont worry Be Happy.
There is always a winging wouser in every camp, just best to know who they are before you invite them to happy hour etc.
I have several people on my list of "I hope I dont meet" as I like to enjoy myself not sit around complaining so I hope their van has an identifier on it so we can all know to keep away as I usually have no shoes, shorts and Tshirt and my hair is too short to comb and GEE I also have a beard so they would not want to talk to me.
People who think the world owes them everything will still go to their grave with NOTHING LOL.
I have found that often it is best not to post on forums and that's why I am very selective when I post but these forums rely on people like you, Billeeeeeee, Jules, John etc and I suppose that naughty boy Wombat as well to keep them alive.
Regards
Brian

Hey Vic About that tree in Pemberton. I tried to climb it once up those nailed in spikes. Well I forgot it was the middle of winter & my fingers nearly froze to them. So UI didn't get to far upwards. Carry on carrying on Doug.

I got about half way up and got the heebie jeebies and came down again, not good on heights. They didn't have the mesh safety sides on then and the spikes were wet and slippery.....
Did climb to the top of Ayers Rock/Uluru twice though (before they started discouraging people from doing it).
Yep, keep on keeping on Doug!

I see from the closed post that she (yes she says F in her profile) has posted genuine threats to people connected with the Greens Lake Thong Tree if not all removed by Xmas.
Has madness now come to this country or she's ParamountCruisers wife and they haven't learnt their lesson yet.
May you all keep wondering why I don't post much these days. There's been a few episodes that I haven't enjoyed.

Thanks again everyone, yes I am happy. I am annoyed though that the person has threatened anyone at Greens over Xmas.
Her feelings are one thing but "Threats" are another and there could be legal action heading her way. Remember your "threats" are now in writing.
For what it's worth, the tree in question is actually looking very healthy indeed. I was camped next to it for two days and the birds were also loving said tree. It didn't look sick to me.
Lets just leave the subject be now and I will see you all in court at Xmas
