Well now that is behind me I am moving on, specifically to Giru half way between Townsville and Ayr. There is a free camp here but it is not in Camps6 I found it in the updates done last year, apparently it is in Camps7 and indicates no toilets. For those reluctant to use on board facilities there is a toilet the other side of the State School next to he Giru Tennis Club and a tap next to the club house. Take your paper it isn't well maintained. I suggest camping at the far end of the camp closest to the State School.
I will take my camera for a walk tomorrow into the township and round the area, Giru is dominated by the sugar industry with a massive refinery with it's attendant conveyor belts. As usual things worked out well for me and as I pulled into the camp ground Sid came across, he took me to Bramston Beach from Babinda in his towed car and also Pat is here a solo lady whom I have met previously at Bluewater and Babinda. Amazing really that in such a remote quiet place there were 2 campers that I have already met and been friendly with. John

I was unaware of your drama John. The Ranger was good to you mate. I hope the other person is proud, sorry but can't help myself, not welcome at my camp. Thankyou Cindy, you do a great job.
Now, John don't you dare stop posting on this great forum my friend, I and many others love reading your posts and I met you a few moons back now through this forum and value your friendship and input to my travel. that reminds me, a big thanks for putting me onto Boulder Creek, great spot. See mate, if you weren't on here how would have I known about that, hey.
Keep safe on your southern migration John and don't take any notice of negative people on here, you have a mouse just move to the next nice person instead. To borrow a saying from another GN and very good friend of yours (who by the way you would not have met if not for this forum) "STAY EXCITED"

Gday...
There are far too many people on this forum who wait for, read and enjoy your posts. Keep doin' it.
and having said that ......
This forum thrives on differing opinions ... unfortunately, occasionally some go over the top and cause angst. We have no place for those members.
However, I think I agree with the Ranger's advice in some way - ".....the council had sent him a copy of the email and he was to talk to me. What did he say, you ask, well he didn't have anything to say about my stopovers instead he advised me to be careful what I posted on the GN forum."
If I could gently suggest, perhaps there is no need to give intimate and precise details of "how" one camps. For instance I doubt one would put up how one continually exceeded speed limits on the road and avoided speeding fines by sneaking past police cars. I doubt it would be sensible to regularly advise how one regularly shoplifted to get ones groceries.
Just keep postin' your informative and down to earth adventures - the forum would be less without them.
Cheers - and strength to your hand - John

Sorry to hear about your troubles but please do not stop posting your travels and photo's on the forum, I don't know if you realise how appreciated they are by most of the GN members, and probably a lot who view but we never hear from.
I for one would be very sad if you stopped posting here and I know I would have many, many other GN's who would feel the same.

Easy walk into the shops, there is a comprehensive convenience store, Post Office, hairdresser and newsagent. In the Lions Park opposite the shops is a well maintained toilet block. Not many small towns have their own helipad John

Yes Mike it looked level last night and didn't use the blocks, too late now will be off in a couple of days.
No gas fridge so level is not that important so long as I don't roll out of bed

Good to hear John, passed Macca's today near the airport where we had breakfast and you caught up on your internet on your return from Bali (as you know I also stayed there while waiting for your arrival call, had a bit of a nap in the carpark in the front of your Hi Ace while waiting (and spent some money in Macca's too of course.) Glad it is 24/7 there, came in very handy.

Had another interesting day, after the town walkabout Sid asked if I wanted to go fishing at Cromarty Boat Ramp. Always up for something different so I went along after rounding up my fishing gear. No bait and little expectancy of catching anything I put a little flexible plastic thingy with a hook through it, swivel and star sinker on to a line and cast it in.
The benefit came in being there and able to take photos plus was able to fit all the fishing gear into the fire box on the back of the van making more room in the bus. As you guessed no fish were caught but even those coming back in boats had little success. Nobody else was fishing from the banks so couldn't gauge our efforts on that basis but I guess that tells a story in itself. John
