Yep, I remember my younger bro and I playing with jam tins attached by wire. We were within hearing distance anyway but communicating via a jam tin was much more fun. However, after a year or two I graduated to something far more sophisticated... a home made crystal set with a cat's whisker and Bakelite headphones.

I am not sure they get the best, parenting, education, meals, life skills. Probably a lot more.

Now you're bringing back some memories Gary,
I can still remember the one and only Crystal set I built,
I think the biggest thrill I had was throwing the heap of wire together then attaching the old ear phones and then ,
after a bit of fiddling with the bent safety pin on the lump of Crystal, I actually heard a radio broadcast.
"Ah" the good old days

Ditto here with the cans on strings and later a home made crystal set, and don't forget the home made billy carts.
We were happy with the Baked Beans cans.

We used two cans and a length of string and we made our own Crystal Sets.
I have been to talks by Dr Michael Carr-Gregg. He is one of the doers, he has the experience and knows his oats.
