Leaving here in Wodonga, Vic in the morning (Tuesday) and heading to Warrnambool down on the West Vic Coast via The Ballarat area for a few days but first a one night stand somewhere along the way. Any suggestions of any free camps would be more than welcome. Not Greens Lake as that is not far enough along the track.

Symethsdale, the other side of Ballarat heading towards Hamilton. Turn off to Warrnambool at the corner. Great spot, level areas, toilets and showers. Honesty box system. Going out of Ballarat the turn off is on your right.

Thankyou for the info Shekon, Lynjeff and Pauline. I have noted both places on my good spots list.
After a phone call from a friend in my base camp area and after chatting, I wil be meeting up with them in Shepparton as they are passing through and might even end up at that famous lake down the road a bit after all, as they want to see what I rave about all the time. No problem as the journey to the coast will still be done in two days. All good. Thanks again.

Well, the friend and his wife did meet up with me in Shepparton but decided it was too much a detour to go to Greens as they wanted to reach Wagga Wagga.
I continued on my way and decided as I approached the turn off to greens to duck in and show the Collie where it will spend a lot of time. Now the weather was truly spectacular and the lake looked magic so decided I couldn't resist it. Yep, set up camp. It's only 300+km drive down to the coast from here. Gee I might not get to the coast.
