If you have reached the age for the pension it is surprising how well you can live on the age pension, supplemented by a small super drawdown of about $10000 a year, a couples full pension is now approximately $32000 a year. This pension is now the same as having $1,500,000 invested in a term deposit to give you the same income
Cheers

Best of luck Graeme on your retirement, bet you're counting down the days!
My dad retired on the 8th and it was a long count down in that last week. Has been the best thing ever to happen to him and i'm sure you'll be loving your new life and adventures to plan.
Certainly knowing your excitement and not long to go mate....
