Hi all
I started this thread to see if anyone else is having trouble with the MY series GPS's.
I recently returned one under warranty,,, long story,, but it just didn't work properly since new.
After 3 tries and much correspondence I finally received a replacement,, good news and thanks Navman.
However the replacement is now exhibiting some of the same problems,,, ie the voice and map aren't synchronised. Examples: 1 Voice says railway crossing 280m ahead, when it's about 50-100m. 2 Voice says speed and red light camera ahead AFTER we've passed it.
Have spoken to several other who have the same problem(s) and don't like the MY series at all.
I have owned 5 GPS's in boats and cars, including previous Navman and never had a problem,, they worked very well.
My wife bought it as a present and now wants to scrap it and buy something else.
Anyone experiencing problems??

Doug it's "lifetime free updates" there is a limit but it's years I think. Or do I have this one wrong.

When I got mine Baz it said on the box "3 year free upgrades". Don't know where the 3 years went though. Bugga.
I probably will upgrade to another GPS unit anyway.

I used to use another brand, when time came to upgrade I picked up a Garmin which has worked ok for the last couple years.
That problem Baz I must say the Garmin did that a few times but not for a year or so.
I'm guessing it's a satellite acquisition issue maybe????
Anyhow before I head off for the big one I'll get a Hema with camps...

Baz,
I have the MY350 and have noticed the issue with distance to rail crossings like you mentioned as well. Having never owned a GPS before I thought it was just par for the course. It has led me up the garden path a couple of times as well
Cheers,
Grevo

Navman are about to introduce a new series to replace the MY range (Im in the business of selling these). Its sad to say that Navman actually provide the best after sales service of the 3 major retail brands - which unfortunately doesn't say much about any of them. They are all driven by price and you will find that depending on the retailer, after a certain number of DAYS (yep, days) the retailer is not allowed by the manufacturer to swap them over and it becomes a manufacturers warranty - you send it to the Eastern States for repair and you are without a GPS!!!!
I use the expensive ($699) Hema HN7 GPS which is a true hybrid GPS. This means you can use it in one mode for city type work just as the Navman works and the other mode is digitized HEMA maps which also incorporates all the Camps Books free and low cost sites as part of the software. The handbook is like "War and Peace" in thickness and is very off-putting to set up from it in order to get all the features it has, but they have a nationwide network of distributors who are happy for you to take the unit and your android/apple/laptop (as you can up and download from any of these to the HEMA and they will set it all up for you and explain how easy it is to use...........and no, I don't sell of have any connection with HEMA (which is an Australian made product).

Thanks for feed back all.
Yes Bruce 14 days from purchase and I could have had a retailer provided replacement,, silly me for not reading paperwork closely,, lesson learnt for me eh.
I'm truly disappointed after so many years reliable Navman products.

sadly, Navman is still the most reliable (in terms of how many get returned for faults or customer complaints) of all the 3 major brands. Its all about price -v- quality. If it packs up after a year or so - throw it out and buy another one - don't expect it to get repaired and operating correctly again.

at least this replacement I received works OK, some faults ie go through a red light camera and warning is AFTER the camera , even at 50kph. I now see the freeway exit signs on screen, the original one didn't show these.
Very frustrating as this is my 5th Navman car and boat and the worst model ever IMHO.

I just wish they'd update their cludgy software so that it works on windows 8 or vista, and maybe even linux... mine sometimes just isn't seen by the computer software and usually takes a couple of goes to update maps.
