However in the meantime, can anyone tell me if they have recently camped in the unpowered section and what it was like (I have previously camped on the powered sites which are in a different part of grounds).
Also, has anyone used the road in from the coastal entry (ie; turn off between Kalbarri and Port Gregory (shelled by a Jap sub in WW2)
I used the Gt Northern Hwy road in from Binnu turn off last time I was there but have never used the coastal entry....

Vic, we were at Hutt River about April this year. We camped unpowered - I don't think there was an option for power, unless you piggybacked off the three "onsite vans". The toilets/showers were fine.
We took a turn off at Horrocks beach - a dirt road (not marked on our hema), so basically came from the south, when we left, we travelled west to join the road to Kalbarri. Traditional 2wds go there, so the road should be OK (she says hesitantly)

Thanks DM's, how did you find the unpowered section (down on the flat?) showers etc?
There are four visitor powered sites up on the hill near the main buildings, but the power goes off at night about 9PM I think, we stayed there but I am wondering what the unpowered section at the bottom of the hill was like. I think the showers down there were out of action when we were there but the ones at the top were ok, but cold as the solar wasn't working.
I know their is a dirt road from Horricks to the bitumen road from Northampton to Port Gregory (and the Kalbarri bitumen turn off just before Pt Gregory) but didn't know there was another dirt road into Hutt.

When we paid, the prince said "over there" that is how we found it! They were fine. Level sites, built up with road base. Can't remember how the water was heated.

No worries, the powered sites were on a slope and built up level with gravel (parked sideways to the slope) only 4 powered sites from memory, two off each external power point.
The unpowered section with a camp kitchen and another ablution block was in the next paddock (through an open gateway) down on a flat area. I saw some backpacker vans parked down in that area.

You'll love it Marj, only water there no food stores so stock up well at Kalbarri before going there, the place may not continue once Prince Leonard (Leonard Casley) dies and is not to be missed. An experience of a lifetime. Pet Friendly.

We spent 4 days there and helped Prince Leonard plant saltbush. If you want a real treat, go down to the river at the bottom where the old pumphouse is - it's absolutely magic. Some pics below.
was therelast year and spoke to all of them Ian his son aka prince Ian said he was keen to keep the place going
That's good news Snapper, he runs the farming side and is pretty busy, but he has other staff there (family members I think).
Which road did you come in on and how did you find it???? We came in from the Binnu end, part bitumen, part gravel but in excellent condition. I would like to hear from anyone who came in from the Kalbarri ocean drive end if possible and their feedback on that road in.
We were there also last year, the now late Princess Shirley showed us to our site, she had fluffy pink slippers on...
Ian drove past in his ute and gave us a wave.

Thanks Snapper, using a GPS is probably a good idea, Prince Leonard told me that sometimes tourists steal the directional signs he puts up.

Yes he does, I put a link to it in my first post, some may not be online or have GPS, Prince Leonard said he still gets complaints from tourists they could not find the place.
Here is the link to the map, open link and scroll down to mud map.
Camping was closed temporarily due to the death of "Princess Shirley" but I understand it is open again.
I have made a post here;

Thanks for the info Vic and others. I will be there in a week or two and will let you know how it goes.
When I was in my final year at school the Principality was very topical and my English teacher became the
official Ambassador, it will be interesting to see if Prince Leonard remembers him.
Steve
Thanks for the photo's and info Denis and Steve, I must do another trip there in the not too distant future.
And yes, getting the passport stamped or a visa issued and stamped at the HR PO.
The Tourist Info centre in Northampton also issue stamped visa's for a small fee also (about $2 I think from memory).
Prince Leonard is a true Ozzie legend IMHO and a typical case of the "Mouse that Roared" although in his case he is a real Lion!
A couple of odd shots, including the throne with a fat "pretender to the throne" sitting on it...
