Well done Yuglamon for setting the record straight. Honestly, how do these things get started. It's nice that some people wish to alert the rest of us about an issue which we might not have read about, but please guys, get your facts before scaring the daylights out of others. Based on the original post, many van owners would have gone out and purchased replacement shackles completely unnecessarily.

It would not surprise me, that the original poster/pamphlet was put out there by a firm wanting to sell Shackles.

Unfortunately they sometimes perpetuate fraudulent stories.
