Thanks John, that is back in teh days when the cars in the race were similar to the cars we could buy, now they are just stock cars with slightly different bodies, no real relavance to the cars we can buy.

Thanks John! Great memories.
I was there at the Armstrong 500 in 1963, and remember having a fantastic day, and getting quite badly sunburnt! We spent most of the time watching near the S's, saw several drivers run into trouble with wheels coming off!
Interesting to note there is hardly any audience visible except along Conrod Straight.

I went their from 1966 to 1977 to watch the Bathurst race and had some fantastic times over that period, We would take plenty of firewood with us and always had a crowd at the fire. In the morning anything not burnt was missing from the fire, Firewood was scarce.
We saw one gent one day in the afternoon that had passed out in the mud and it had dried around him, We asked was he alive and they said he was. One year had a caravan and had 2 in the car and 3 in the van to save the gate money, The things we do.

Great pics and memories, John. I was 20 and driving a '59 Wolseley 1500. My dad was driving a '49 Standard Vanguard. My, my, how times have changed.

Brings back memories, not of Bathurst, I wasn't here then, but the cars themselves.
Gday...
Something for the young (orrite - praps a BIT old) rev-heads amongst us.
I loved this era - and Bathurst was such a fantastic track - incredible to see how much it has changed since these days
Cheers - John
