We are looking to buy our first CB radio and as we are newbys could someone advise us as to whether the Uniden brand and in particular the UH 7760 is a good model as it has the controls on the hand piece. The other model being considered is the GME and it provides a similar setup. In addition there seems to be a considerable difference in price if I buy it from a retailer or purchase it online. The only difference if I buy on line is the extra cost for installation and aerial.

Not familiar with the model but Uniden is a good brand. Another is GME. Current models are 40 channel, but these will be phased out after 2017, so whatever brand you decide to buy, be sure to buy an 80 channel. The uh7760nb is 80 channel.
Aldi have 80 channel on sale on sat 16th for $99
The brand is Onix and the give a 12 warranty same as everyone else

I have a Uniden 7700NB and cannot speak highly of the unit. It would be a toss up between Uniden & GME, they are both great units

If you buy from dealer OR online you'll still need to pay extra for aerial and installation.

Hi
Ive always been a UNIDEN fan, however I recon they are all made in the same factory and at the end of the production line the different labels are added, a bit like the mighty Ford Ranger and Mazda BT50. (<< CYNIC!)
Safe travels.

Sorry about the late reply, but if you haven't bought yet the uniden is great, with the speaker in the hand piece it allows you to hide the unit almost anywhere. I was able to mount my unit behind the dash completely out of sight (D Max) and the only thing you see is the hand piece and cord all looks very neat and professional.

We have a uniden 7760 and it is a very good set.
A technician mate of mine says he likes them because they can actually be repaired if a problem arises.
