Looking at replacing the tyres on my 2008 Iveco 6.5 ton MH and looking for recommendations.
I am concerned that as they are approaching their 7th year they may be getting a little past their use by date. (they look pretty good and have only done 12k but the age worries me)
any advice appreciated.

I just bought Michelins .. Pricy..
May as well buy soft grippy tyres as wear is not an issue on motor homes..
They age before wearing out..

They do rate the best for comfort and that's what its all about :)

I replaces the front two.. Next will be back outside two.. Leaving the best of the old on the inside ..
There are RV specific tyres that age better..

I just put Michelins on the front of our MH...great tyres and worth the dollars....pays to shop around as one tyre co was $70 each dearer.

Managed a fleet of buses years ago and we (our tyre fitter) kept impeccable figures for tyre wear/cost/life.
Best overall tyre was Yokohama and we measured cost down to 4 decimal places per km. Higher initial cost but cheapest in WHOLE OF LIFE COST/VALUE FOR MONEY.
Just my 2 cents worth as not much usable data here so far.
You could ring the local trucking company(s) and find out what tyres they use for say 8 tonners involved in local deliveries,,, that will give you some ideas.

My aim is the best for comfort and safety not necessarily most economical life costs.
Based on the KLMs we do I am guessing that they will fade away with old age before they wear out :)

I have an Iveco and decided to replace all tyres after a recent blowout on a freeway. These tyres were 6 years old. At Bob Jane I did a deal on Pirellis 225/16 at $175.00. Couldn't beat a deal like that..

That's my big worry... Tyres sitting around in the elements for 6 years or so are a risk..

Whatever you do DONT fit Super cheap tyres .. I'm buggered if I know how some tyres are allowed come into this country, Tread doesn't mean good tyre !! What was a good tyre a few years ago will have possibly changed now . Although known brands are always up there .

You maybe right. My Iveco is a Daily van converted. Gross weight 3.55 Tonnes. Maybe they are not suitable for your heavier Iveco..

Tyres required 225/75/R16C 118/116
Michelin don't import a tyre to that rating :(
Pirelli do but 6 months wait ?
So only choices are
Continental $290 each
Yokohama $260 each
Han**** $195 each
I am leaning towards the continental ( the tyre fitters are pushing the Yoko's) not sure I have heard much about the Han****'s
Thoughts anyone?

Another company told me they were the next best thing to Michelin and offered a real special deal at $315 per tyre fitted.....
The next quote was $195 for the same thing??? and another at 195 (lucky I didn't go for that special deal)
Continentals were quoted at $340, $315 and $290 (list being $345)
Yokohama quoted at $290 and $260
read all I could find and think the continentals sound the best for hwy travel but the Yoko's seem to be better designed for urban work. (just my take on it).

Had The continentals fitted today.. Wow what a difference in the ride.. like floating on Air.
Glad I changed as once removed one could see that two tyres were about to totally fail on me.
The pic is of the worst one.
Its doubly annoying in that the van was serviced only a week ago and this issue was not spotted other than a general comment that the tyres could do with a balance.
I had mentioned to the service guy that I was thinking of changing the tyres due to age and got the impression that they felt it was over kill and a waste of money.
The tyres were manufactured in early 2008 and had done just on 12,000k
one point to remember when buying tyres is the age of the tyre BEFORE you buy them, on the side wall of a tyre is a code, it looks something like this LMLR 5107 the letters are of no concern the numbers are what we are interested in, first two numbers (51) are the week in the year that they were made, second two numbers (07) are the year they were made, go check when yours were made.

I once had tyres fitted and they were not cheap, saw the date while still at the tyre shop and they changed them to newer ones,wonder how many times they have gotten away with that in the past on other customers, needless to say I do not use that tyre shop anymore.
