Can anyone recommend a nice free/alternative camp spot about halfway between Townsville and St Lawrence please. I am going down the Bruce, so not too far of course please.

We found a lovely place, inland from Mackay at Boulder Creek. It was so nice that we stayed a week. Coming from the north, turn at Mt Ossa towards Mt Charlton, then follow through to the creek. There's a flushing toilet, plenty of shade and a crystal clear running creek. If you're not short on time, it's well worth the detour.

G'day Doug,
We spent a couple days at the General Gordon Hotel at Homebush which is southwest of Mackay so just out of town. great pub great meals and was $10 a night no pwr avail though.

Well it looks like the masses have cast their vote and Boulder creek is the popular choice. I spose it will have to be BC then, otherwise I might get stoned at dawn by the masses. Spose a stone is better than a boulder.
KFT, your vote sounds good too but if I go too far south I might just as well go to St Lawarence the first night.
I am trying to stop off about halfway as I originally said. Over all this 12 hour, 900+km days.
