IMHO, good brand but wrong piece of equipment.
The "Nudge" bars are really to protect the front of the vehicle from low speed nudges that might occur in heavy traffic, or car parks.
If you are looking for protection from wildlife, you need a bull bar that goes right across the face of the vehicle.
Hope that helps.

Fran, sounds a bit exe for a nudge bar and I agree with Peter. If you want protection from critters a steel bull bar is the best.
Just a little side note...I have a wombat scoop on mine

Fran, have a talk with ARB or TJM. Agree with above, a nudge bar will NOT nudge a kangaroo out of the way.

I had a East Coast bull bar fitted to my Sprinter was about $1800 but after being off the road for 2 months due to roo damage was cheap insurance, hit a couple since and no damage at all.

Bar is steel and very solid, very pleased with it, I use our Sprinter for deliveries and don't need down time, the small roo I hit before the bulbar did $5500 damage plus the down time, parts were a bit of a problem.

Is your Merc a Sprinter? SmartBar have an excellent product for you - http://www.smartbar.com.au/en/Products/Products/Mercedes#Mercedes-1 These bars give better service than metal ones. Have a read of their site. They have not been mentioned on this forum lately but previously some forum members have given glowing reports of them in action.

thanx PeterD, I've sent them an enquiry, waiting for a response, yes its a 413 CDI
There are a number of trains of thought on Roo Bars and there purpose. If they are to solid you run the risk of bending the chassis rails if you hit something hard like a roo or cattle , then there are the Airbags to consider on newer vehicles bags are triggered through the bumper bar and a after market bars can play up with that trigger mechanism Just some thoughts handed on to me from the accident investigation branch
In campervans without front protection the big risk is been trapped by the legs as the front crumbles in around you so you really need something to help with the impact deceleration factor design to slow the crumble effect what that is best advised by a dealer /installer. Most of what I see out there seem to be suitable for carrying spotties and not much else .

I saw the amulances in Agnes Water today with these bars on them - http://www.smartbar.com.au/en/Products/Products/Mercedes#Mercedes-1 - they looked very functional and great on the vehicles.
