Any suggestions on a route and some free camps? Coast or inland?
have had a look at Wikicamps....so far come up with Wuruma Dam...Bedford Weir...Lake Elphinstone....
where next? Looking for not too crowded...some fresh water occasionally and dump point. Have around 4 weeks to get there.
All suggestions gratefully received! Cheers

If you come the coastal route St. Lawrence is a good place to stay. Good amenities (coin for hot shower)

Hi there Buffy, we stayed at Wuruma Dam about a week ago, nice spot if the wind isnt too harsh. We stayed for about 4 days. We are now at a beautiful camp at a little town
called Baralaba CAW6 camp 445. This little town has everything. Not mentioned in the book it does have town water and a dump point at showground.
Stayed at Lake Elphinstone last year, nice place gets crowded and it is about 30kl. to dump your cassette if you need too. But we did notice at Lake Elphinstone and Wuruma Dam, most don't seem to have a worry about dumping in the bush, which we are absolutely horrified with. But everyone to their own.
Also last year we stayed at CAW6 Camp 283 Macrossan Park, which is about 22k East of Charters Towers, big spot also.
Hope that is helpful. We have big rig and fitted into those places without any dramas.

Thanks gypsy...will check them out.
And really? People empty their cassette wherever they like?? Ewwww!
Surely they could at best make a wander to the toilet and tip it down there?!

So is the laundry soaker with 34% percarbonate chemicals? Seems that's what most use these days and seems that is ok to empty into a toilet.
And emptying in a toilet has got to be better for the environment than tipping your crapper behind a bush!!😫

I think you would find it does have chemicals. We have a vacuum toilet, so no smell and everything is macerated. So at the end no paper or crap just liquid manure. We also have an extra storage tank to empty our cassette thingy into when staying for extended times, or til we find a dump. Maybe all the caravanners out there may be able to enlighten you with what they do, thats the ones that dont dump in the bushes.

'Definitely agree with Barry. Bio Magic is excellent and as the 'Bio' suggests safe for toilet disposal. We have been through four or five other brands including laundry soaker with percarbonate and found that Bio Magic suits us best.
