Already seen lots heading off with mum and dad with there the trailers full off camping gear so we have pulled into the Home Hill showground for a few nights where it is only $10 a night for power and water.

And isn't it great, I love the fact the families can still get away and enjoy this great country.
I took my kids camping as much as I possibly could until changes in work meant it wasn't possible, some of the best memories I have.

Woolly ,I agree with you and the fact that in Oz it is still safe for them to do it ,but what I like is the fact they actually play out in the fresh air and mix with other kids .
Kids soon forget about the tech world now thats a great thing to see.

How right you are Barrie, my kids were really at the start of the high tech age, eldest being 25 & youngest is 18.
So they still went out & played street cricket, football or just mucked around outside in general, something a lot of kids don't do now.
I really don't know why more families don't get away, our rule was at least 1 family holiday a year, even if it was just a trip down the river camping if we couldn't afford anything otherwise.
But in reality we went camping very regularly, it is a cheap way of getting away.

Yes, we took our kids camping when they were younger and we thought once they got up to be teenagers they would get bored but no, they loved it - no tv, no power - just great fun. A couple of them go camping with their own kids now - good memories.

We try to avoid coastal cp's like the plague when school holidays are imminent, but recently we are finding more and more of the little horrors traveling out of normal holiday time.
Some can be well behaved and appear to have a semblance of correct upbringing, and parents that do try to do the right thing, but by golly there are some ferals out there.
Currently in WA and dreading next week, they appear to be arriving now a week early too.

might be a good time to get out the old cricket bat and get a game going with those 'ferals'
never know, you might have some fun too!

Love this thread.
We are currently parked on our Daughters winery (large property, 350,000 litres of plonk) in their house yard. The grandies (girl 6 and boy 4) visit every day at around 8am to bid us good morning.
Now, I have been referred to as a grumpy old man on more than one occasion by more than one person, so does that make me a grumpy old nomad too? Back to the story, The little dears bring their toys and dogs, cats and bloody MUD into the van too.
Is it any wonder I enjoy being on the road and well away from all forms of civilised humanity? << GRUMPY TALK
Despite this, it is a wonderful and heart filled moment when we return "home" and have the kids run up, give us a huge hug (and dont let go for a long time) brings a tear to the eye and makes it all worthwhile. Love those little ferals to bits.
Safe travels
PS. they taste way better when slow cooked and basted with a good red... lol
