After advice about how long you need to get everything set up. I have sold my house and am currently looking at motorhomes and then want to get everything set up and follow my dream of seeing australia. Any advice or tips from the experienced on traveling alone. I am still working full time to save money so I don't need to work all the time in my travels. Thanks Julie B

I went solo for 2 years during 07 and 08. It took me a few months to "get the hang of it" and learn to slow down and enjoy the scenery, don't rush.
Personally, I chose not to consume alcohol or very little, "just in case".
Lock the doors at night, once I forgot in Darwin, and someone tried to rob me while I was asleep, they literally learned over me, scary!!
I mostly stayed on the main roads, and booked tours for unmade roads or "rough outback" destinations.
I did some free camping, but not alone, make sure there's other campers around.
If you have work skills or certificates, there's a good chance you can pick up odd jobs if you like a destination and wish to stay longer.
Last but not least, have a great time, you'll see amazing sights and meet incredible people.

Welcome from me too! I am a solo traveller, been basically on the road for just over 2 years now...I do a fair bit of house sitting as that helps to stretch the $$,
Cannot say I have ever had a really scary experience on the road, I 'listen' to those little hairs on the back of my neck....and if in a remote camp I will ask any other campers if they are planning to stay overnight, before I make my decision....I never stay in camps with a lot of evidence of the locals coming out to use the area for binge drinking sessions!
Enjoy your time on the road!

All I can say is Welcome to the mad house..
Do yourself a favour, DO NOT jump into the first vehicle you see..
- do your research, Ask question's..
- Think about how comfortable you wish to be..
- Test drive a few different rig's..
From personal experience.. A Camper trailer for a Solo is Hard work when it comes time to Pack-up and go..
- I have traveled for 3month's/18000 Miles in a Basic RV[class B] in America, it was fun but next time I'm going something a Little bit bigger..
You have to work out how you want to get around...
Ask the questions of what other lady's have for their setup's..
Juergen
Psst Get All the nut's and bolts worked out..
