Hi Jim & Leonie,
Are you going via the Gulf Development Rd to Normanton? I have been looking for info on the condition, type of road. Our map shows tar sealed.
We are still at Darwin. Temperature around 30', fine and sunny, slight breeze. Decided to stay until tomorrow before heading for Catherine, then to Camooweal.
Please report further on weather conditions ..... I might camp up for awhile until things improve.

Patto
we were on that road last year and it was all bitumen. some sections about 15km each are single lane so you need to get off and stop if a road train comes at you. have your uhf on ch 40.
shoulders of the road are mostly in good condition for moving over when other traffic is coming at you.

mount Garnet is approx. 419 km from Charters so I estimate we would probably be there Saturday morning.
In any case we will be somewhere between the Gulf road turn off and mount garnet.
we may just catch up
