Chris (bowlerbear) and I Set off from Bundoora Dam yesterday and arrived here mid afternoon and all we have seen is rain, no solar to help the batteries along so the generator got a work out.
Over the last day at Bundoora I noticed that the passenger side front tyre had gone down alarmingly, it had been hidden by the shower tent. Rod was able to pump it up with his compressor and we set off to see a tyre outlet in Middlemount as well as picking up some DVDs that John (Cruising Cruze) had sent to the P O.
Thanks John.
I thought that Nebo would have had a supermarket and a hardware shop, but no, only a small convenience store, I bought 2 cartons of 1 ltr. UHT milk at $3.70 each but left the other shopping and arrived here unreplenished and without a visit to a hardware store. Not to worry we have Googled Glenden and found that there is an IGA plus a hardware store there some 25kms away.
We have Telstra internet here but no Optus phone reception. The famed donkey showers have been removed and in their place is what looks like a temporary structure with Ladies on one side and Mens on the other but no hot showers. On the sides are what look like water heaters but certainly not connected. The Camps book indicated that there is water available and there is but not drinkable.
When the rain stops I will take the camera for a walk but one improvement has been made in clearing away the overgrowth around the lake, in the picture from the link with the Hi Ace featured you can see that there is no easy access to the lake when I camped here last but now you can walk right to the edge. Click on the pic and it will expand. John

Not raining here, young fella, hehe. Haven't seen rain since leaving Townsville, although Ita provided enough for the whole trip. Presently at Mary Pool between Fitzroy Crossing & Halls Creek. Communal tea prepared by Mel, Sandra & Jules last night, superb. Sandra making weird noises about scones today. Damn, life on the road is hard but someone has to do it.

Hi Patty,
The ladies were cooking for Darrell in WA but I have been lucky Chris has been cooking her cryovac meat to use it before my frozen stuff but it will be my turn soon.
Had sun for the past 2 days and am catching up without the generator.
No Optus here so no phone reception.

Glad to hear you have some sun now John. We have plenty of it over here - at Ellendale Pool, between Fitzroy Crossing and Derby. This is beautiful country - though a bit windy at the moment.

Gee Highwayman (Roy) - that's no good - hope you get better quickly - nasty thing to have any sort of hepatitis!!
A good warning to watch your water though - if you take water from an unknown source (i.e. tap above a lake, say at a toilet as at Waruma) don't use it unless you boil it thoroughly!!!

I always filter my water using a B.E.S.T. Water filter regardless of how potable or not the water supply is. It filters down to one micron. Then I don't have to worry whether it needs to be boiled or whatever.

A week later and have been to Glenden a couple of times but could not get the gas bottle refilled neither could I buy butane cans. Was able to get metho for the spirit stove for $5.70 per ltr bottle no stock of the 4ltr containers. Was able to visit the IGA so I am no longer hanging out for the basics.
Had another Grey Nomad visitor Michael (Rosebrook) he knew Paul from Wuruma and wants to catch up again also Bob and Elaine (ducky) who I met at Dawson River have arrived. The latest from Paul is that he has had a good result with the operation but has to wait until Friday to have the stitches removed and he will be here on Saturday.
The plan is to leave here next Monday to have Chris's trailer tyres replaced at Glenden then pick up items from Bowen Post Ofice before heading to Home Hill to have the bus looked at. It doesn't idle well in traffic and is hard to start when hot.
Saturday and Paul arrived yesterday he had his stitches removed and set off straight away, good to catch up again. One of the campers had cut down a dead tree and there was plenty of surplus wood so we collected enough for an open fire and sat round it until late. Tomorrow will start the packing up and stowing away ready for departing on Monday morning. John

Glad Paul got there OK John. I couldn't get over to see him before he left, as I had a Fridge malfunction to deal with. Compressor Burned out.
Have a good trip. He's been champing at the bit to get back to you guys.
