Good morning to all the GN's on the road, I would like some information/tips on travelling from here to there without trouble. Is there anything we should know beforehand.? Is free camping ok on the way up there? Hope to hear from you all out there...many thanks Janine & Hilton

Hi,
plenty of free camps, fuel stops and good road. Get going and enjoy.

We are at Alice Springs having just come up from Port Pirie but we had an excursion to Uluru. Plenty of camps, good road. Fuel at Erldunda $2.10 diesel per litre and at the Rock $2.21 less your 4cpl discount with your resort shops discounts.

If you do take the Uluru side trip option there is a free camp at Curtin Springs. You can get power but its exy, and the sites themselves are not good, not as good as some of the free ones imho.

We find nothing wrong with the sites at Curtain Springs.

Curtin Springs Amenities. Ha Ha. We had a laugh at the very crude shower block and The mad emu that seems to guard the shower block. But it's all part of the experience.
We had one of the few powered sites. nothing flash but what do you really want. the crazy people that can ruin your night's sleep can be the problem.
We had one such night but I'm sure it is not a regular occurrence. very late, very loud and very drunk with giant bonfire in the middle of the road. Hmmm

We've done the Centre a few times, fantastic road and beaut drive, all the road houses have a caravan park, if you prefer the power and facilities, you might even get to see the Ghan if you time it right.
Coober Pedy is fantastic, but you wouldn't want to live there, take the time to explore it, the caravan park is good.

One of Oz's great journeys in my opinion.
