I am having trouble with the fitted outside table, which is very stiff when moving up or down. I have tried the ususl wd40 and checked for obstructions, but nothing helps. It appears that to remove it is not an easy job, without causing damage to the flat plate fixed to the van. Can I try anything else?

Maybe give a good clean on all moving parts then spray with silicone spray. Might work.

This is the problem The hinges are hidden, and to get to the likely problem, it is just guess work.
There is just a metal connection to the table, and the hinge appears to be behind the lower frame on the van wall.

Who fitted the table? Did they manage to secure the screws through frame members or did they just hang it on the aluminium siding sheet? What type of table is it?

This is a photo of the table. don't know what make it is
Sorry, but I don't understand how this is supposed to work. Is the whole thing supposed to come away from the wall ?
Can you undo those Pop Rivets at all ?
Cheers,
Sheba.

The table seems to have been twisted or warped. The LH picture seems to show that the tray is not closing properly as though the top has been twisted away from the wall. The other picture shows the RH stay not fully extended and locked into place, this shows the same direction of twist. If you can remove the warp from the table it may operate properly (if my observations are correct.)

The LH pic is the hinge, which is mostly hidden. Only the metal bracket seen in the pic, is all the hinge that is visible. It does lock properly and perhaps was not completely down when the pic was taken. The two pop rivets appear to hold the hinge in place, but they are not accessible more than what is visible. They (that area) has been sprayed quite liberally. The table is not cut into the van, but mounted on the side.

Solved not an easy task, as the hinge pins had jammed in the brackets. After a deal of trouble the table assembly was removed, and the hinges removed. I took them to the dealer who supplied the van, and after admitting he had not seen this problem before, offered another part assembly to fix the concern. Now to fit, and seal, as the replacement is not exactly the same. Tried to drill out the seized hinges not successful - then the hinge broke as the stress caused while trying to use them caused the pin to break. Anyway, almost a complete fix. Thanks for assistance.
