Some will be wondering what has happened to our group as we haven't posted for some time. Main reason being the internet is fairly poor in most of our overnight spots.
We have now split into two groups, leaving Jules, Billeee and Mel in Darwin, the remaining 3 being Colleen ame25, Solosteve and myself having moved on to WA. Not having seen much of Darwin and surrounding areas we have left that for next winter and will go back there again for a longer period.
After leaving Katherine we headed west finding some great spots to stay overnight, one being Victoria River Roadhouse where we stayed for two nights at 7.50 a night per person unpowered. What a great place that was. Great photo opportunities, toilets, showers and dump point.
We crossed the border yesterday and spent the day in Kununarra getting supplies before heading out west, we are now at Leycesters Camp about 100 ks north east of Halls Creek.
Very handy having Colleen along. Having lived in this area most of her life she has inside info on all sorts of things. These are wild passionfruit, very sweet.
OMG Happywander, we were (we still are) in Kununurra at the same time. We have been here since last Thursday!

Oh No. That's the trouble when we can't always get internet. I even went to the market. I suppose you were there too. We will meet up some time, I hope. We've been trying long enough, where do you go next?

Yes, we were at the markets also. Our plan after here is to spend a couple of days in Wyndham, then down to Lake Argyle, followed by Bungle Bungles, Halls Creek, Wolfe Creek before returning via Kununurra, then off towards Darwin. Have heard from Oldboar, meeting up with them tomorrow - not sure if Jules and Billeeeee or MSG will be arriving at the same time. (When we were on the Gibb, we were without internet for over 14 days.)

We will be in Darwin next weekend (Sat 14th) for a few days.
Depends if we find a camp somewhere reasonable.
I contacted the Polo grounds but not available for next 3 weeks.
Any suggestions???
Love to meetup with other GN's.

A bit chilly here this morning, down to 11 degrees, have to hunt for a jumper.
He's still in the same Tux Kendo, can't be feeling the cold.
Patto, I think there was to be some international polo on at the grounds, that's why it would be shut. Don't know enough about Darwin to help you out.

The Polocrosse National Championships are being held at Fred's Pass from 7th - 13th July. Is this where you were enquiring about Patto? If any GN's are up that way at this time and interested in horse sports, this is a great game to watch.

Head further up the highway towards Winnellie. Place called Robbie Robbins Reserve, cheapest place to stay if you don't have a friend with a rural block. They also take dogs.
Cheers

I know you are planning to return next year, but you are missing soooo much at the rate you are moving on. Is there a reason for not slowing down and looking around places?

HW, it looks like you are heading our way for the winter weather, try and stay where you are for a couple of months.

We travel between 100 and 200 ks a day. Stay 2 or 3 days at each spot even if they say 24 hours. Don't have the money for anything expensive in tours and I wanted to be in Fitzroy Crossing in time for my birthday.
Howzat !!!

do not stay at the CP in FC just before you cross the river at FC is the Resort on the right, much better place to stop, tell them that wombat sent you, it will not help but it sounds good.
DM, wht not go to the supermarket at the Bungle Bungles, if you beleive that then you will believe anything.
Enjoy your travels guys.

Burn off across the road at Bridge Creek. You can see the hawks swirling around ready to catch any escaping wildlife running from the flames.
