Reported that they were told not to go boating there. Have killed a 5m croc, rogue or not, who knows and body found.

Yesterday morning (Sat) we took the 6.45AM Yellow Water Billabong cruise in Kakadu and came upon 6 crocs with the biggest about 4 metres. This is the area where this bloke went missing that afternoon. Had police running around etc. Plenty of stories going around the van park and resort but none that I'd quote!
We only saw one boat fishing with a couple on board.
Just out of interest, those cruises must be a good money earner - $99 per person with 33 on our boat and 3 boats were operating with 6 cruises per day....multiply $99 by 33 per boat by 3 boats by 6 per day and it is big dollars, but good luck to them as without private mobs like this company us tourists would never see half what is on offer.

You are in their environment, and fair prey for them. They don,t discriminate. Food is anything they can swallow.Its just a fact of life in the tropics. just DON,T take chances .Bill

When we did that cruise, a couple had their two children on it, letting one about 8 years old drag their hand in the water over the shallow sides, I had to grab her hand and pull it out, they just didn't understand the dangers, you would think I was a child molester the look I got off them. Even fresh water crocks will have a go at a hand, let alone the salties in the billabong.

That's the trouble Vic, the tour guides don't give enough warning, but I don't think this chap was on a tour, they said he was dumping a bucket over the side (?) wonder what was in it, and some of these tours teach crocs to jump, to entertain the tourists, the croc only does what crocs do, but I do think a lot of those boats don't have enough feeboard for that environment.

We went on the Yellow water cruise several years ago and after seeing lots of big salties we came round a bend & there was a car topper tinnie with two people catching fish. Had one flapping about as we went past. Almost no free board!!! We were concerned that the rather minimal bow wave of the tour boat would capsize them.
A great place not to use your kayak either.
A terrible experience & loss for the family concerned in this latest event.

Yes it sounds like he was snatched out of the boat, I did a tour on the Mary River where they hold out baits for the crocs on a pole and by god they can jump high, no way I would be sitting in a shallow draft boat when they are around.
