Here's my opinion..... First the article suggested only one price range for a caravan and tug ($100000)
Second depends what sort of holiday you want. As someone said to me one time..... If motelling then the only person you socialise with is your partner, however in caravan parks you get to socialise with different people all the time.
Comes down to personal choice so the article was just a different point of view.

I, like many, are fulltime on the road too .. my home is with me and any such planning is not relevant ..
Not a real good intro to newbies either .. unless they are pretty well heeled and can afford it ..

hi. its just another newspaper story trying to get folk to read there rag. yes its a load of crap but that's wat u get when u read papers I suppose. well its got some of us interested hasn't it ?? I travel in cheap motels etc (if u can call it cheap)and camp out in a small tent as well just depends on the $ available at the time. still looking for a vehicle to travel in. enjoy

Not that I've do it (yet). I would have thought there is some basic planning to be done. eg. $'s to be accessable where ever you are. A way for family & friends to contact you (if you want them too ), medical cover, etc.
Yes your rig & camp setup to be as good as your budget & experience allow. (noting that if you are going to go seriously "off road" then that will require the appropriate level of gear & preparation).
As far as the Big Loop trip is concerned I would have thought the biggest decision you would have to make is "Clockwise or Anticlockwise". I would imagine the day to day decisions of "stay or go", "Turn left or right", Caravan Park or free camp" are all a part of the fun and adventure of it. The freedom of doing what you want when you want.
Plan, Plan, Plan...that's what I do now and it's called work (well really it's "go to work" and plan, plan, plan, our next trip away)
Obviously I am generalising here and yes a bit of planning will be required but the twit writing the article infers that you almost have to own (or in this case "sell") a sheep station to afford the rig, etc, and you have plan down to the level of where your going to stop for your next Pee to go do the big loop.
Hehe now you guys out there actually doing it can tell me how it really is
