Felicity and I will take off on Tuesday (3rd) in our little VW Trakkadu (Fried Rice) for a boomerang kind of loop from here (Brissy) to Innamincka/Cameron Corner/Sturt NP then via Broken Hill and the bitumen to Eyre Peninsula. Coming back will be via the track to Birdsville and home via Central Queensland. We plan to get back by end of August. Fingers crossed against the risk of multiple tire failures or worse!
Of course we'd be very happy to meet up with others from this community who might be along that route as we pass. The only secure date we have is at Farina on or about July 4th. You can Google Farina Restoration Group if you need to understand our interest.
We are also members of the Probus association so would be equally delighted to meet other members "on the move".
For your interest I add a segment from a recent inclusion I prepared for our club's June newsletter. You can see we may not be as physical in our project as, for example Blaze Aid .. full marks to them! But a lot of us do our bit in different ways.
"Among other things we'll be attending the June meeting of Charleville's CWA group, where Felicity will be handing into their members' care a dozen shoe boxes. Each box is chock full of nice things for families currently afflicted by drought; items such as cosmetics and other personal little luxuries those folk have had to do without in these trying times.
The CWA ladies will distribute the boxes to needy families in their region.
We thank all our friends within and beyond Probus who've helped Felicity to accumulate these gifts, in addition to about $1500 which has been applied to purchasing vouchers which are supporting a number of stricken families to manage their grocery bills."

Hi Fried Rice,
We too are heading out that way but not for another couple of weeks, just doing the 'loop' out to Thargomindah, The Dig Tree, Innamincka, Cameron Corner, Tibooburra and then turning east to Wanaaring and back into Qld and home. Quite looking forward to it.
sounds like you too have a great trip to look forward to, so enjoy and safe travelling.

Safe travels to you too, Pejay.
We know the folk out there are desperate for rain, but secretly I hope it happens after we've cleared the "nasty bits".
If It rains before we get out there we'll happily change our plans.

Fried Rice,
That is lovely what you are doing for those so affected by drought. I'm sure you get as much pleasure out of giving as those who receive the gifts. I hope you have a lovely and safe trip.
