Hey all, we are about to tackle the Gibb River Road. We leave Derby in the morning, and are not sure when we will arrive at Kunnanurra. Wish us safe travels.

Have a safe trip and keep a look out for the wild life, there's some very big Hoppies out there, and keep a count of the wreck camper trailers, you'll be amazed,
cheers K.J.

Arrived Kununarra today. Had a ball on the Gibb. No issues with the tug or tow, one puncture, one broken drawer catch. 14 days off line, three nights Windjana Gorge (did Tunnel Creek) -, 2 nights Silent Grove (Bell Gorge) Four nights freedom camping beside Barnett River about 1k from the gorge. (magic). One freedom camp Gibb RR and Kalumbaru Road intersection. One nights at Ellenbrae Station, two at Home Valley, one at El Questro. Now currently at Showgrounds in Kununurra.
Thanks Gerty and Vic for your wishes. Barrie, it was not the tourists, it was the bl**dy scientists working out of Home Valley who were the issue. City drivers in hired 4WD. Just don't know how to slow down.
We did not see any large hoppies Kiwijim, few rock wallabies, many cows. Heaps of camper trailers, which we expected, couple of bushtrackers, couple of jaycos, a spinifex, a lotus, and a few misc other caravans - at stop overs, but did not pass or be passed by many caravans (two in fact.)
Wombat, your cache is in good condition, still in its wombat hole. I replaced the plastic bag! - and yes Wombat is right, there is no internet between Derby and Kununurra, however, just before you go down the hill to the Pentacost, at the Coc*burn Range there is Telstra 3G coverage. Phone messages rolled in, but was too slow on internet.
Good luck Oma next year, it is a fun trip, if you take your time. Bryan, keep that Bucket List going.
Casbaz we have a Kedron ATV - 21ft, towed by a 4.2 GU Nissan patrol. No issues. apart from mentioned in first paragraph.

Glad to know you had a good trip on the GRR DM's, sounds like you had a ball.
Someone said the road from Derby to Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek (and out to the highway from Tunnel Creek?) is sealed now is that the case? I was dirt on previous occasions when I did it, had the rangers camp at Windjana with long drop and bore shower. Has that changed or still fairly basic and what is the charge for staying there now please.
Thanks
Vic

When was that Wombat? The section I am talking about is the turn off from GRR that leads to Windjana and Tunnel creek, and past that back onto the main highway, not the GRR itself.

Bitumen from Derby to Windjana Turn off, Windjana turnoff to tunnel creek, all dirt. Sorry "someone" is wrong. Toilets in Windjana are flushing. Hot water for showers. drinking water on tap - also at Silent Grove (Bell Gorge) $8.80 (concession) per person to camp + National Park entrance fee (can't remember what it was, we have an annual pass)

Can highly recommend the boat trip that goes from Kununurra up the Ord River to Argyle Dam. We did it both ways - different outlooks each way. We had earlier done the sunset cruise on Lake Argyle while camped out there.

How long do you intend staying at Kununurra, Dunmowin as we should be arriving at the show ground tomorrow (Monday) for a few days. Will probably be accompanied by Jules & Billee plus MSG
