We are on the Georgina River, free camping , toilets and water in town 1 km away. The best spot we've ever been. large billabong, thousands of water lillies, birds everywhere, brolgas parading. even ariendly mob of horses. Cool nights, sunny warm days. Don't want to leave.

WOW...
That's the sort of place I would like to get to.
That one goes into my notebook.
Thanks for posting.

Had a look at this camp site today. Its very popular, and has a 72 hour limit which is policed. The land has dried out lately, the river-level lower, but the water lilies birds etc are still here. Today 80 camps along a couple of kilometres of river is busy but not crowded. Its quite dusty though, and you need your own "amenities".

Will check that out when I get over there. Stayed a while last year, one of the best spots around.
I've just checked wikicamps, yes it is saying 48 hours.
