Gentlemen, I have a little piece of advise that you may want to think about. I laughed but sheesh it sort of just hit a raw nerve a little also.
I spent about 3 hours solid hand washing and polishing Miss Daisy this afternoon. Now MD is a 26foot long MH, so no small feat. I was up and down my ladder, changing water and getting through the job at hand. I did look around at one point and there were a few guys sitting out enjoying the sun, having a quiet drink. I thought nothing of it really, that was until after I was finished and then the following occurred.
A lady came up to me and said, " Oh my hubby was going to come and help you this afternoon. He would have had it done a lot easier and quicker. Takes about 5mins.
I smiled nicely at her and said, "That would have been nice"
She answered' " Oh yes he has it down pat now, use to be a coach driver and all you need is a broom, bucket, one of those long ones, and some turtle wax, and it is done in now time."
I just looked at her and said "Well I am off to have a shower now, cya"
So the advice is please do not send your wife over to offer unwanted advice if you are not willing to offer to help.
It is funny though. Was I looking for help, no, I try to be independant, however if this gent had offerred I would have gladly accepted. Just another little experience. Not a biggie but an interesting one.

Peter it was good advice, just not given at the appropriate time, after watching me for three hours doing the job.

Yep I get it....no point offering after the fact....and the wrong comment from the Mrs. Not a feel good moment.
I agree with Peterblack though, about the broom, I've cleaned my car and caravan with a soft broom since I learnt this trick while working with the ambulance service. Its quick and easy. And because it makes for a quick job you rarely see a dirty ambulance on the road.

I wash my vehicle with truck wash and soft broom - quick and easy. Also do the same on the windows in the house - beats having a permanent fog lol!

My son gave me his truck broom, doesn't drive trucks any more. I fill the bucket with water and some wash if I have it. Then all over the van with the broom. Which has nice soft bristles.

Maybe the bloke said nothing, other than watch you work, which is something humans tend to do. Nothing like sitting there watching someone bust a gut, but nothing untoward in it, just a fact of life.
Maybe the woman was jealous you were capable and happy to wash your MH and her bloke was innocently watching you work. Like many women, was having a go and blaming her bloke, pretty typical in some circles. The woman didn't claim she washed their rig, which would again make me suspicious and sounds like sour grapes.
Then on the other hand, it's not uncommon to run across brain dead wankers, male or female on the road who know everything, but only been on the road for holidays, or 2 weeks. That's life, I would have least offered a beer when the job was done and asked for a price to do our monster, after a couple more beers.
If it was in a caravan park, then completely understandable. I rebuilt an engine in a van park on the Sth coast of NSW many years ago and when it was finally fired up, had this donkey come across and tell me there was quicker way to do it. Asked him if he had ever rebuilt a volvo engine in situ, turns out he watched an engine being put in when his car was being serviced. Couldn't understand why I was laughing, but it taught me a valuable lesson.
We wash our bus at the car wash near Hobart and a couple of truck wash places we know in Aus, which are really cheap, or free. Also carry a windscreen washer, to get the dust off the windows every day.

Lol! Good on you. I woulda said, prove it! Without wrecking my exterior. A 5 minute wash compared to a ' you beaut wash n wax?'
Quality wins... I could not wash my van in 5 minutes even with a pressure washer, not if I wanted a good clean, anyway. And it's detrimental to not not use enough water. Lack of water initially, on the van surface, means the broom becomes abrasive with the dirt and isn't real flash for the exterior. Ie. wetting the surface is a damned good thing to do, before you start with a sponge (not broom) etc. And that takes time whether you use a hose or bucket.
'Matey In question' didn't own or pay for the coaches he was washing, why would he care?!!!! And broom is more abrasive! You will never, ever catch me using a broom on my car or van..... They scratch the panels cos they hold the dirt.... A cheap sponge is all I use. Replaced regularly.

Too easy! It was just one woman informing another woman that she still has a man in her life.
As proof, if she was so concerned about you slaving away she would have directed him to attend to you at the time, right?
Further proof as if any was needed, is that she didn't invite you over for tea and scones or a home cooked meal, you being so tired and all and she being a caring sister.
Honestly, as if any man would be speaking up about a woman doing her thing and risking a savaging and cold shoulder from Her Indoors for taking an uninvited interest in some apparently unattached woman nearby.
It was about secret women's business. Nothing to do with men.

I find as a male it can be very embarrassing offering advise to a woman as I have had several cases where I as told to mind my own business when I tried to assist when it was obvious they were in trouble and unsure or unable to do the task they were battling with.
Also on holding a door open as I entered a building for a following woman I was told in no uncertain terms that SHE was capable to open the door herself.
I normally hold a car door for a lady getting into or out of a car but only for a lady I know as well as some things that in my early days was considered necessary for a gentleman but sadly we are not suppose to be gentlemen anymore. I would never offer for a stranger as it can be seen as patronising or showing male superiority.
This poor man may be the same in that he was not prepared to be told to F**K OFF or more possibly to aggravate the little missus who would have been threatened by HER man helping another woman.
Some of us males are still inclined to offer a hand if it is requested but sit back until that request is fore coming.
In Shekon's case she was happy to do her own task and I think he was right to sit back and not disturb, but I think his wife was out of line and should not have came afterwards to offer unwanted advise.
It would have been more appropriate to offer the advise casually at happy hour if you joined together later but leave it alone if that chance was not available.
I often see people do thinks I think or know are wrong but I would not chastise or offer advise unless it is requested.

I'm stubborn as, 3 older brothers taught me heaps. However, if a guy says 'can I offer an opinion?' I'll say ' yes, but I may disagree.' I've learnt heaps from that reply, and disagreed too Sometimes.

I find the lift door a no brainer. If fist to a lift I ALWAYS hold the door till ALL are inside as the door could shut on someone if someone does not hold their had across the door sensor.
Anyone who does not do this is just arrogant and or selfish.
Not sure if I am just toooo old but to me to assist anyone is a privilege not a chore.
We amass a great knowledge bank over our years and if it is not passed on then all humanity looses.
My father always said (even a fool may improve your knowledge bank so listen to ALL and then decipher the wheat from the chaff).
One of the problems with our current society is we are tossing the learnt knowledge of the seniors into a rubbish bin and letting the juniors flounder on without the advise of the seniors as has been done through out history. Gone are the old tradesmen etc that used to work on and in their final years were used to train the new tradesmen coming up. Now we reach 50+ and then you are out the door and there is no mentor for the young, besides now the youth are brainwashed to disregard anyone that is their senior as they all think they know it all. Now if you cant compete with the young in energetic activity then you are discarded and no credit is taken of the skill and knowledge you possess. You may do a better job in less time but when you reach that date trigger your gone out the door.
Not sure what will happen soon when the knowledge of the past generation is lost to the work force and we rely on the young generation of now. We do have some great young ones but I feel the average of today have lost pride and care in their lives and think mainly of themselves and NOW.

I shudder at what is going to happen in the future with poor quality ,can't wait till payday work attitudes.
As you say Not all but many of the young ones have no pride and care and they are now taught to look after self,no wonder marriages are falling apart like they do now .
