Hi all my husband and I have just started traveling around our beautiful country. We have decided to go South ( we have never seen snow or changes to leaves ect) At the moment we are at Kings Cliff . We passed through Armidale a week ago a it is a sea of autumn colours.The town has been saturated with trees a now in every stage of the colour changes.

Most of the places along the NSW coast are quite lovely and worth taking a look at. I generally stay in the
rest areas over night and sight see through the day. This time of year there seems some reasonable charges in some of the CPs.

Bright is a great place for Autumn color & a good base to sight see snow country like Mt.Buffalo & Mt.Beauty.

If you are coming through New England you better have a decent heater, our weather has turned very cold. I took one of our grandsons to junior soccer at Guyra last Saturday, you could not have got a worse day if you tried the only good bit was when it snowed the howling gale stopped, it was 2 degrees out of the wind.

Two years ago we stopped in Guyra for morning tea at this time of the year. We were on the way back from a week at Dubbo with our Grandchildren.
Bad decision.
We ran from the tug to the van & struggled to open the van door in the howling freezing wind. It took a great deal of mental fortitude to force the door open & race back to the tug after drinking all the hot coffee.
Fortunately no rain or snow .. just a little sleet!

Well if you are in Kingscliff town & liking a bit of a private swim & spot or some fishing, then follow the Coast Rd south towards Casurina & Cabarita Beach, you'll come to some parks on left & ride sides just before a small crossing bridge!
they have toilets & bbq's there & ideal to take a break, with the shops not far away! It should be free camping there unless the council has set up a fee!

We used to stay on the absolute beach front sites (before they got washed away) at Kingscliff. (Site 117 the best for us)
One of my favorite activities there was to motor my fishing kayak right up the river past Salt & on the outgoing tide, put on a wetsuit & my snorkeling gear, & tie a rope from my wrist to the kayak.
I would then drift down to the mouth looking at all the fish ... fantastic & no bull sharks!
When I tired I could re board the kayak & have a snack & a couple of stubbies and perhaps a few oysters, maybe a snooze or try to catch a few of the millions of fish that I had seen ... usually with no luck.
Have to go back next spring.

We are in the Windang council park in southern Wollongong. Absolutely a great park and NSW parks have got great deals on now. We paid $75 for 4 nights with seniors discount. A real bargain check the net.
