Wish I had known that a couple of weeks ago, have been laid up with a spider bite for two weeks. Ankle and leg swelled to almost double in size and very sore. Ankle still slightly swollen and not too sore now, doctor reckons another three weeks. Don't know what kind of spider it was.

A farmer advised me to always step on my boots before putting them on.

Yep, I have a habit of checking inside my shoes before putting them on... although I must admit I don't check my thongs.

Wasn't in my shoes it was in the house, I was walking barefooted.

It might of been a trap floor spider

Spiders are everywhere, they're everywhere, they're everywhere! All types of spiders inhabit my caravan. If I go away for more than a week, I have to knock on the door to see if I can get in. I won't be able to move it because it's tied down by 3 years of webs.
Inside and outside. Sweep away today, and they're back again tomorrow. Daddy long-legs, fat black ones, little ones, big ones.
It's a jungle out there.

Not sure what this huge spider is but it's sitting in the tree next to us here at Long Waterhole Winton.

Gday...
I think this is a Golden Orb Spider. I love spiders and this is one of my favourites.
Some background (if it is a Golden Orb) -

Gday...
There are a number of variants of Orb Spiders .. perhaps this Orb Spider is closer to your friend in your nearby tree
