very excited to be in the early stages of our big trip, which is around Australia in as long as it takes.
We are at Longreach at the moment, have been here since Wednesday, heading off Sunday. There are 6 of us travelling in 5 vehicles. Billeeee and Jules travelling together. The rest are solos starting with Solosteve, msg (Mel), Ame25 (Colleen) and myself Happywanderer (Marj).
I will put some photos up and the others might add to it, we have already done and seen so much with more to come.

This was take at Emerald where we stayed a few days so I could get a 2nd solar panel fitted. Beautiful garden in behind where we stayed for three days at the bridge.

turn right at Cloncurry, turn left at Burke and Wills Roadhouse and keep going west - to Adels Grove and Lawn Hill National Park. Lawn Hill is really special. Can camp at the NP, or at Adels Grove. Road is sealed all except the last part (used to be 90kms but I think some of that has been sealed. Just means driving a bit slower. People from Mt Isa bring ordinary cars in there, no problems, and I have seen plenty of ordinary caravans and motorhomes like B & J's in there. No powered sites though.

Won't be going that way Wendy. When we get to Winton we are going south to Boulia then back up to Mt Isa. Some really spectacular sights I've been told.
Maybe next time as I will have to come back here next winter to see all the bits I've missed out here in Longreach this time.

I'm feeling a bit starved at the moment ..but live in anticipation. I will be watching your progress as you travel westward ....as long as you keep posting. Safe travels cya roy

Hi all you west-going travellers - as you leave Mt Isa and head for Boulia, there is a great place to stop for a night or 2 just south of Djarra - Deep Creek Bore. We had a few nights there last year - very big area to camp, some trees, some firewood scattered around but byo good burning pieces, place almost empty when we were there, very little traffic noise - toilets about a 5 minutes walk - no drinking water but you can syphon from the taps there for a shower if you are desperate - I washed the red dust out of the sheets there after going cross country from west of Cloncurry to Djarra. You may have been there before, but if not, well worth the visit. We are planning this years trip to start on Monday and will be heading north via St George, Longreach, Winton, Boulia then across to NT via Mt Isa. Was going south to the Murray, but decided tooooooo cold so will save that until later in the year.

The last day we were at Bedford Weir this peac o c k came to my door to be hand fed. Beautiful bird, hangs around the camp making himself comfortable in our camps.
There's me and Sheba is parked along the front of my van. Gayle is was so good you were able to come out and spend some time with us. Also Thank You for introducing us to Ame24, Colleen. She fits in so well, a perfect addition to our team.
I am so happy to be starting my big adventure with such great people. I think I will definitely get the laughter lines to go with my wrinkles. Thanks for including me in your group, Colleen
