We have RACV recovery and APIA insurance for our Jeep. We have CIL insurance for our caravan which provides recovery if the van breaks down and cannot be repaired. However, if our Jeep breaks down and needs to be towed, the RACV will not recover a caravan of more than 22' overall (ours is nearly 27'). Does anyone know of any company that will provide caravan recovery (ie not breakdown) insurance for a 27' caravan?
Appreciate your help.
Regards,
Derek

Hi Derek and Sonia, I researched this some time ago, as I am facing the same dilema. From my research only the South Australian road side assist include the towing of large vans, all the rest limit it either by length or weight.
I then heard from a number of people who said, their van had been towed anyway free of charge. But now we hear from Blaze where they have applied the rules.
It was also stated at the time that RACV were considering increasing their limits, but I have tried to confirm this with RACV and all I meet is denial.

My undertanding is that if you insure your Tug and van with Ken Tame Insurance they will cover up to $1,000 a year for breakdown recovery, Your states roadside assist eg RAA may also assist in the rcovery costs. But to get Ken Tame Insurance you need to be a member of the CMCA.

NRMA (NSW) will cover large tugs and vans for an additional cost of $122 per year. You need to have top cover as well which I think is about $ 160.
Check my avatar which I tow with a Dodge 3550 (GVM of 5535 kg's).

I thought ( read on another forum, Have not checked) that was up to a certain Km eg 200Km per recovery, but then again, every little bit of $ support helps.
