I attended a Rotary meeting where everyone stood at the end of the meeting and sang Advance Straya Fair. Not only did I feel like a dill not knowing the words (and still don't) but the bloke next to me had a loud operatic voice which attracted everyone's attention. Maybe I should have mimed.

Pity the Portuguese beat him (Cook) by 50 years and the Chinese by near a 100.

Gday...
Yep - many nations had visited Straya (as we now lovingly call this great place) centuries earlier ... but none had visited the east coast before Cook.
