Can anyone give me some current info on the condition of the road from Monto to Gladstone?
If you have camped in Kalpowar State Forest and/or Boynedale Bush Camp, your comments would also be appreciated
We are hoping to travel in that area in early May.

We spent 10 days at Boynedale Bush Camp about a year ago and found it excellent. Plenty of room and a large flat area suitable for all size rigs. There is a 7 day limit but the ranger told us it was not usually enforced if you are behaving yourself. No potable water or power but generators are allowed. Dump point and water available at Calliope. Good clean drop toilets on site. One of the best free camps we have stayed at. Sorry but we have not travelled the Monto/Gladstone road. Hope this helps.

If you van is high with a roof top A/C then you may not be able to fit under the railway bridge. Sign before bridge and again before going down (Up to 15% decline) from the top of the mountain before 'Many Peaks' warns that it is not suitable for trucks, buses, caravans etc. We've taken our Pop Top through a couple of times and loved the drive except the time it was raining heavily when we had to ford a few creeks. Thanks for all that. We need about 3.1m clearance so will try to find out what is available. The camp sounds good.
