Does anyone know if your van is covered by insurance if it is damaged or stolen while unattended in a "free" camp site?

My understanding on these matters is that providing it is not on private property, all roads, sidings, bridges parking bays etc are under the auspices of a dept of roads no matter what state.Furthermore ,the free camping does not enter into it.If you park and leave it in the main street of Sydney or the back of the black stump it should have no bearing ! All the best John.

Hi,
If it is legally parked and You have taken all reasonable measures to secure Your property there should be no reason that it is not covered.
The main thing is to read the policy particularly the Exclusions. I have found that if I dont understand any section, that the insurance companies are always willing to explain.

Very interesting question, I would like to know that also Hendo, as we all tend to leave our RV to go for a walk or a fish or similar. What insurance Co are you with?
