I don't think he is a member on here anymore and has not been for sometime, at least by that name if any other, he started his own forum after he left from memory.
I can't mention the other forum by name etc as it is against GN forum rules;
"As previously stated, the Grey Nomads forum exists primarily to allow people interested in the grey nomad lifestyle to help, encourage and guide one another in their big adventures. Posts are not to be used for the sole purpose (however well disguised) of promoting other websites or forums, or advertising products or services. Posts deemed to have breached this guideline will be removed."
And;
"The PM system is also not in place to advertise products, websites or other forums."
I think most know his forum and the others he visits etc, so won't push the rules boundary here by naming them.

Why would you say that wirroff. I have met many, many grey nomads from this forum during the last 3 yrs from all walks of life. Fortunately I seem to keep friends with all I have met regardless of others opinions and preferences.

Just my experience...there are a few on here who have been very helpful and friendly (Old Bob and Brian to name two), but most of the time if your opinion doesn't match the majority on here, then you don't belong and that is made quite clear usually.
I will continue to observe for now but will vary rarely now offer an opinion.

Hi Wirroff and all. As a relative newcomer to this forum I disagree with your opinion. I previously subscribed to another forum which did meet your description but this one, no way. Any forum worth participating in is going to have a wide variety of opinions, disagreements and criticisms which are essential ingredients for a lively and informative forum. The fact that some members post much more frequently than others and often engage in some humorous and entertaining banter does not, in my book, make it a clique. Put your dummy back in Wirroff and join in the fun and if you want to have a shot at me feel free to do so. I am not immune to copping a bit if I deserve it and consider it an honour to be bagged as it means I've at least got somebody into thinking mode. Keep smiling. Cheers.

I don't agree about the clique, although it could seem that way to some.
Many GN's have been on the forum for some time and have had meet up with others either individually or at GN gatherings (eg; Greens for instance), so know each other reasonably well, so it is understandable they have some "bonding" of friendship.
But those individual meet ups are open to everyone as are the gatherings, just that some newer members may not have had the time to do so yet, but all are most welcome and GN members look forward to those they have not met before.
I have been on several forums in the past, and I must say that this is the friendliest forum I have been on and the only one I now visit (only so many hours in the day).
Like CC (John) says, everybody's opinion is just as important as another's and that doesn't mean if that doesn't agree with anothers point of view, as they say, we can always agree to disagree. So don't sit back, keep posting, you have as much right as everyone else here has.

Understand what you're saying and it's true to a certain extent. It happens on every forum and in every organisation, those with vested interests or large inadequate ego's tend to gang up at times. I call it an expression of simple minds mob rule and what you expect from those unhappy with their inadequate empty lives. It seems only their opinions and ideals are acceptable, which is a again a human ideological psychological state common throughout all societies.
I just laugh at the crap they dish out, it reminds me there's no way I would want to have anything to do with these types of people, in reality they are pretty inadequate humans and believe they can never be wrong.
Plus there are plenty of really nice people here and on the road, keep a list of those you want to avoid if run into them down the track. Makes for interesting meetings at times and they do get a big shock when you confront them with themselves. Luckily where we travel, we rarely see others and those we do, we know and look forward to seeing them in all the wonderful isolated places we frequent.

Relatively new here but NOT forums.. I moderate on two car forums.. Have remember this is text and written word seems matter of fact ! When you meet the other person . In most cases they ARE totally different.. A person who is keen to help etc can seem over bearing ..

I think it is well to remember too that if any member is not happy with the forum or the attitude or comments of any other GN they are free to pm the Webmaster (Cindy) and tell her so for her further action, this would be a much better way of dealing with these matters than venting it publicly here IMHO. Then if anyone is not satisfied with the outcome, they still have the choice of either staying on or leaving the forum. It is even mentioned in the rules;
Quote; Posters should refrain from personal attacks. We welcome and encourage healthy discussion and debate but do expect members to show courtesy and respect to one another at all times. Inevitably, there will be differences of opinions and we are happy for everyone to express their view in a friendly and respectful manner.
