I know there are other threads ranting about caravan park prices, but holy Hell, this one takes the cake.
I won't name the park, but it's in South Australia. Post-Anzac Day, they charge $66 a night, and over $100 a night in the summer.
Don't think we'll be stopping in, and if we do happen to pop into that town, we'll stay at another, more reasonable park. Like the one that is only $27 a night, and has the same facilities!

Hi Rosie
I believe you BUT surely there must be some reason why they charge that much.
maybe they are thinking they will get a better class of caravanner who can afford the money???
I see no point in doing that if the place is empty.
we wont be going there either.
could you name the town or region this is in?

Hey Rosie..
Why won't you name and shame the CP..
I think we would all like to know which Park it is..

It's in Murray Bridge. It's not Princes Highway, Long Island or White Sands - their rates are far more reasonable. There's only 1 other park, and I won't name it, because ..... well, because.......... I think I'm still in shock.

Why not name the park and town, no need to shame it is then just an item if information that you are sharing.
Every business has the right to set their prices to what the market will bear, if they don't get their pricing right for their product, they will eventually go out of business.
One of the main reason that prices go up, is the many charges levied by Councils and Governments, rates, land taxes and insurance would now be a major impost on parks in high land value areas.
Cheers

I had a look at the photos of the park to find a way to explain the cost, and it is a nice, clean park with lovely facilities. On the other hand, there are cheaper parks, just as tidy and with equally good (or better facilities), for far less. And they are also in Murray Bridge!

Hi Rosie,
Just wondering if that park is the one that is at the TOP of the chain and has a second name that could compute?
If so they are quoting $33 per night during and post Anzac Day BUT minimum 3 day booking, your choice of days though.

Rosie et all, I feel if you are not prepared to name the business in question, be it C/P or Caravan/MH dealer, then you shouldn't bother to post. What is the point other then venting you spleen?

Larry there are 5 CP's in Murray Bridge and Rosie has named the 4 she isn't referring to so I think that you can work it out from there..

If we are talking about Avoca Dell I had a look at their web site and it does not give accommodation rates you have to contact them to get rates and this always makes me suspicious.

This is another link to Avoca Dell, not sure how old it is but is says $30 a night for two people on a powered site ??????
Out of curiosity I rang Avoca and they quoted me the figures I mentioned above for one person and the Avan so might vary with numbers and size of van. I might add the lady I spoke to was very helpful.

When a website doesn't give prices, I don't bother contacting them. That old saying comes to mind "If yo have to ask, you can't afford it." I also won't stay at a park where they have 'minimum stay'.

Just a thought here folks - Easter is the weekend before ANZAC Day and it will be school holidays hence why the prices are high, however I do agree with you that it is a bit rich!!

Hey Bob, it's not just the C/P issue. If you read my post carefully before jumping to Rosie's defence, It is also about caravan/M/H dealers and for that matter any services we are not happy with. It is only an opinion and therefore cannot be taken as defaming and thereby no litigation. BTW she only named three.

Nope, this was in May. For 2 people in a big rig. In an email earlier this week.
Granted, our rig is quite large, but no larger than a tug/van combo. Even if we were required to pay more for a big-rig site, fair enough, but there are limits.

This someone suing Maccas not the other way around. As long as your post is your opinion, it is not defamatory, can be backed up by facts, is not racist or condescending there is absolutely no reason why you cannot name the business. If business are made aware, they may change their ways for the better and we all benefit. If you want to have a whinge and not name the business in question, then we can all potentially go through the bad experience you have just been through. Hopes this clarifies this issue.

I named the other 3 parks. Everyone here, reading this post has internet access, so it will be easy enough to Google Murray Bridge caravan parks and work out which one of the four it is....
As for me, I'm covering my butt, even if I do have the email from the park to confirm the cost.

With all due respects Larry, As Rosie said ?? she named the other 3 so simple to work it out on the Net, OR if travelling that way, just a simple PM to Rosie, and I am sure she would advise you ?? She is ''Just covering her Butt'' as no one on here is qualified to give Legal Advice, as far as i am aware.
And Rosie, I am glad to Hear that you do ''Cover your Butt'' as if you walked around with it Uncovered, Dougwe would Add it to his Avatar
