G'day Stewart, thanks for the info. I am an amateur VK3 BWC. I have not operated for over 20 years as I was tied up with mu gyroplane flying. I will be setting up an HF rig as I get other priorities finished.
How large can you make the speed digits on your GPS?
Aussiepaul
I have one on my phone , have you tried that??

I can't see why you'd want to ring someone to tell them how fast you are going?

Most GPS units,I have/had over the years have the ability to warn you if you
are speeding by a margin you set yourself,ie 0% over,5% over etc,
no need to look down the voice warning will slow you down quick smart.
I might add, I only use the IGO/Primo software in them.

The Heads Up Display items listed above are a great idea.
From what you say they be a good option.
I use a Garmin. Modified 4x4 wheels makes it a must-have.

Try the following website from Polaris Australia. They do lots of stuff but this is a good one.
Helped a neighbour install one of these the other day, he's very happy with it although he said it's a bit hard to see the display on the windscreen when driving towards the sun. Instructions were missing from his unit but Polaris emailed them to me 5 minutes after a phone call. You can also set two audible speed alarms

Thanks Joe. I am a little confused, doesn't take much these days!!!. Does the Polaris HUD need to be linked to a gps or does it have its own gps satellite receiver to compute the speed?

It has its own GPS receiver. Unit sits on top of the dash and reflects the display into a small tinted plastic film attached to the windscreen. You could forget the plastic film but you end up with two reflections from the two layers of the laminated glass.

Ah ha, that is what I hoped for Joe. Thanks. I have a Polaris agent just down the road. I will have a chat with him as he fitted my electric brake controller a few weeks ago.

Another questions comes to mind. Is speed the only info the Polaris HUD displays? Also wonder the same re the Garman HUD.

Don't think so Milo, the numerals are white although the promo video on Polaris's website shows a green display in some instances. Attached is the PDF file they sent me.
I am looking for a gps that can show a very large speed display. Any clues please?
Aussie Paul.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 2797LMT, 7 Inch screen very easy to see and read.

Why would you need a large speed display? You already have one.....it's called a speedometer!
Agreed BUT not accurate and difficult to read for me. I would rather not have to look down.

have a look at this buy.garmin.com/en-AU/AU/mobile/mobileaccessories/hud-head-up-display-/prod134348.html
with this device you wont have to look down or even away to see your speed.
