We are camped at Dwellingup in the hills south of Perth. The first evening here we tried to watch tv via the Saturn antenna but no luck. My wife wanted to watch MKR last night so tried the tv, no luck again so put the antenna down deciding instead to watch a DVD. To our surprise after the antenna went down again on to the storage position on the roof of the van the TV reception became great so Jane was able to watch the whole of MKR without any problem, great reception.
I can only guess either the antenna works better down than up! Or the van just happened to be pointing in the right direction and assisting in signal strength or acting as an improved shield.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?
Cheers

Moonraker I was wondering if you checked the aerial on the roof as it
could be loose and reconnects when folded down, just a thought

No all is OK I even checked I had full power from the batteries as this can affect the ability to receive a good signal

I have had an interesting reply from another forum.
It appears I'm not the only one to find that the antenna will work better down rather than up in some locations in fact it may be that to get good reception it can be better to try the antenna at various angles from fully down to full up positions. Thats even an antenna that is supposed to universal directional.

Somebody said something about the signal here between Albany and Esperance being vertical rather than horizontal. I really don't understand what that means except we have a Wyngard antenna and no TV in at least 3 places so far. Not sure how far Dwellingup is, whether this applies there too?
Its ok, we are getting over our addiction to watching the box every night. Reading, doing puzzles, playing scrabble, watch the occasional DVD has been fine.

Dwellingup is about 23.7 kms (a 20 minute drive) from Pinjarra.
