Cripes, thanks for sharing that KJ, glad no loss of life was had.
With the main northerly holiday season about to start (around May onwards) hope for the tourists sake and theirs they are able rebuild in time.

Yep, sure is a bad time to have a fire, another month or so and the tourists will be flocking in there.
I am trying to recall if they had "grid power" there, or did they have their own generators.
Its a number of years since we were last up there ( TOO EXPENSIVE ) so I can't recall what power there was,
if the Caravan Park relies on their own power, that will be out and gone for sure, there goes all the frozen fish in the freezers.

I spent 2 weeks as a National park volunteer at Monkey Mia. This entailed getting in the water with the dolphins with the bucket of fish for them. Didn't stay at the resort though as we were house sitting in Denham. The chief ranger there at the time was talking about opening up part of their normal car park to grey nomads for an overnight stay. Don't know if that actually happened.
$300.000 fire wipes out the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort.....
