I know nothing about outboard motors and boats generally so it came as a huge surprise when Darrell over reached the float to bring in the opera net and fell into the dam. Luckily the boat went straight in to a tree and I grabbed the tree in a big hug and wouldn't let go, the outboard was still running and I didn't know what to do if I let go I would have been taken anywhere. In the mean time Darrell complete with hat and sunglasses swam to the side of the boat and took charge. I could let go of the tree and get to the back of the boat where there is a red button which I had to press and hang on to the outboard allowing Darrell to clamber back in.
Roy was enthusiastic about two opera nets purchased yesterday in Monto so off he went in his canoe to set them in place for the next days catch. So this morning off he went to reclaim the nets and was very lucky only to have caught one because he put the net on his knee and the occupant proceeded to bite him on the knee. If he had caught several it would have been more painful but that was not the only bite he had to endure, without training he grabbed the redclaw carelessly and was bitten again. Roy gave the only redclaw to Darrell to add to his collection and will be more careful tomorrow.

Wish I'd been there with my camera.
Surely it's not hard to figure out how to steer the boat

John, that is so funny, I could only imagine the antics and what it must have looked like. Sounds like the Benny Hill closing music should have been playing. Keep enjoying yourself and life.

Sounds like my old scouting days. I thought people were supposed to become wiser with experience as they got older. Oh dear...

Sorry Gary, I don't think we get wiser. We just have faced and worked out more situations, but there will always be a new one to catch us out
