A day in the life of this grey nomad starts beteen 6 & 7AM with a tidy up of the bus and breakfast and now a dcision about food from the freezer for transfer into the fridge for later meals.
Then a talk with the neighbours to see if any momentous things have been plannd for the day, Sandra is planning scones for morning tea so that has to be fitted in to the busy schedule.
Darrell was planning to drive round the foreshore to collect a fallen tree to fuel his Oz Pig cooker, Sandra is having a chicken and roast vegies later so more fuel is needed. I volunteer to go and help and load the lengths on to the truck after Darrell uses his electric chainsaw, returning to camp and the timber is unloaded then cut into smaller lengths for the pig.
Got to be morning tea time and the scones are ready so we have a morning happy hour with three couples and two solos under the shade of a nearby table and seat combination. Getting close to lunch time by now so off I go to prepare and have lunch and have a nano nap.
I decide to walk up to the direction signs where internet can be accessed but Darrell is going up there early today to allow Sandra more time for the chook cook and I get a lift. I was able to post a prepared comment to the blog and forum.
Roy has a canoe by the lake and suggested that I might like to take it out for a paddle and not being one to miss out on a different activity I readily agreed. Not so supple as I used to be but after some effort I was ensconced in the canoe and ready for a paddle but the hardest part was getting out, straddling the canoe and then lifting the leg over was a problem.
Then time for a swim in the dam, the water at this time of the year is just right so that was another enjoyable exercise. Now time for happy hour so we congregated at the front of Darrell and Sandra's van for more tall tales and good humour.
After Darrell wanted to check out his opera nets for red claw so again I volunteered to go and help, so off we went in his inflatable boat across the dam to his secret location and coming back couldn't help but see the sun going down behind the trees and a spectacular sun set.
Now time to cook the patties brought out from the freezer, not very nice so they got thrown out but the sliced apricots and custard more than made up for the patties. Dark by now so out came the previously charged up laptop and a movie was found from the hard drive.
How was that for a day in my life? Very hard to beat with more to come tomorrow and as more grey nomads join us it will get even better. I can take another month of this with no trouble at all maybe even more, this place is better in my opinion than Greens Lake, cerainly less windy, and I spent over 2 months there.
So it is all up to me, I can sit under my awning and hope somebody comes and talks to me or I can get out and meet and greet, we have made friends with another 2 couples camped near by one travelling couple will join The Grey Nomads forum when they get access to a laptop. John

Your doing great John and like your stories and pictures, they give us all a good insight into the places you go. Being from the West I will google Waruma Dam to see where it is and if every I get over that way will check it out, I assume it is in Queensland somewhere.
You going in a canoe reminded me of another canoe venture you did when it capsized and you lost your camera in the river (all recorded on Johns blog). You certainly are adventurous in trying new things. Putting on a bit of pud around the middle, but still have a long way to go to catch up with me (pud wise).

It is in Queensland Vic., about 4-5 hours south of Rockhampton, depending on Road conditions, and the speed you travel at.

Hi John, yea people ask me what do you do all day & yes it gets busy hay John. For myself I did washing this morning, stripped the bed aired the bedding, a shower in all that. I am at Girgarre at the moment. Sounds like your having fun John keep up the good life. Patty.Forgot to ask, was the swim cause you fell out ??????????

No Patty I really did go swimming although I found it hard to get out of the canoe as the pic shows.
Vic, I have put on a little weight haven't got access to scales but the belt tells me and of course the photos. When we were in WA together I was too gaunt so people said and now too fat, can't win. Getting exercise walking a couple of kms a day uphill just to access the internet but it is all good.

A wonderful read and you sure know how to keep busy and active.
Great example for us retirees to follow. All that volunteering and so on, with the clear indications that to succeed in life is really working as well.
Loved the bit where you expressed the need to get out and meet and greet rather than sit under the annexe/shade and hope for others to come see you.
Hope to see you and others on the road soon.
