As my friends and family know I have a Daughter and Grandchildren living in Townsville (Kirwan) (now).
Due to some ongoing problems she has had to move out with the kids and set up in new (to her) house away from the now ex and he has been making things a bit difficult for her. I am sure some of you know the drill.
She is currently sleeping on a Queensize mattress on the floor and is causing her back some problems.
I am wondering if anyone in the Townsville area that might have an old wooden QS bed base sitting out in the shed and would love to get rid of it to a good home. The wooden base has that gap for storage under but a bed base would work too.
If you have or know someone that has one I would love to hear from you by PM please.

I have one here in Biggenden Dougwe. Shame it wasn't closer.
It's a wooden QS with wooden slats.
Would rather it go to someone worthy than have it left here.

If she checks the garage sales up there she is sure to find one. My brother lives up there and furnished his whole house that way. Apparently a lot army personal get transfered and sell off the excess gear cheaply.

There are a couple of Op shops in TVL and at least one of the ones we went to have beds. It's big Op Shop, sorry don't remember the suburb or which one it is because we were only visiting at the time.

All sorted and thanks to everyone and those that PM'd. One happy Daughter(at last).
Looks like I will start my 2014 Northern Migration in the next few weeks but via the East Coast first then North via Near Sydney then up to Townsville via the coast. Just keeping an eye on the humidity up there now.
Phew, what a battle it's been. Not over but much better.

Glad you got it sorted Doug and are hitting the road again, sounds like you really need the break!
Wombat, I was told the same but when talking to the Salvo's recently in Morley they told me that if the mattress was good quality and clean they would take them, and bases. I noticed in their store they had some new mattresses still in plastic (I would say probably donated by a mattress maker as excess or superseded stock etc) but also some used mattresses, but in very good condition.

We will be in Townsville in a couple of days but I see you now have that little problem sorted..
We will then be heading back South to be home in Grafton by the 19th.. Slow trip..
Any time after that you would be welcome to come in for an overnight stay so I can copy your wombat scoop..
